Malestrom Becomes "Frozen Ever After"

I plan to ride it once (with a fastpass because the lines will be totally ridiculous) and then stay far away from the new Norway. (At least as far away as the tequila bar next door)

That was a temporary store...it's gone now. It may come back with the Frozen Summer event but it won't be permanent.
Yeah, I know it was a temporary store. I was just saying- it was already there and operating at one point. They could of incorporated that.

I'm Norwegian. I'm well aware of what the Norway pavilion is. The Viking ship is gone, the stave church is frozen over, the ride and movie are now gone and replaced with frozen, the traditional Norwegian food that used to be offered at akershus is significantly watered down since adding the princesses.

The Kringla bakery is still amazing. The gjestost cheesecake...mm, just yum. The rest has been significantly watered down.

The stave church is going too? So other than the bakery there will be no semblance of Norway?

I was there last week and the stave church is now a Frozen exhibit inside! Maybe that is what the PP meant when saying it is "frozen over." I was so sad last week to see that 97% of the pavilion is now dedicated to Frozen. More than half of the store, the stave church, and we all know that beloved Maelstrom is being converted...even many of the CMs in the pavilion didn't seem pleased. None said so in words, but it was pretty obvious. There are so many better places it could've gone...I know, I know, decision was made by Disney and there is nothing that could be helped by complaining, but I just had to voice my sadness over it.

They are going to have to something to the queue, the line will be ridiculous.

I'm thinking this will be FP+ only with some return tickets given out each morning for same day.

What happened to the Stave Church exhibit was painful to see and totally unnecessary.

They'll probably get rid of all of the good food at the bakery and make it all cupcakes.

For some reason when I heard the ride was getting a frozen makeover I kinda thought there might still be some Norway stuff in the ride. I had no idea it was just going to be a ride that retells the frozen movie story. That's disappointing. And all to save on time and to get people into the Norway pavilion. Aren't there a bunch of buildings in Dhs that aren't being used anymore. If there's a place that needs help at wdw it's gotta be DHS

Maelstrom had standby and FP+ queues, why would a new attraction be any different?
It wouldn't surprise me. The A&E meet and greet and the frozen show at DLR are both FP only due their popularity. This could definitely be the first implementation of that at WDW.

*Note: this is not an official prediction :) And I certainly hope it doesn't come to fruition at all. It just wouldn't surprise me.

QUOTE: Marshmallow, from the short 'Frozen Fever' makes an appearance. END QUOTE

Ummm....Marshmallow appeared in the main movie. He is the monster that Elsa made to try to get Anna/Kristoff/Olaf to leave her frozen palace....he's kinda of like the guard. He chases them to the cliff......

Some interesting information regarding the sponsorship of WS pavilions and the apparent myth (the article's words, not mine) that they were funded by their national governments.

Source

Just posting this because I found the information interesting. I was always under the impression that all of the countries were initially funded by their represented country's government, but I guess that wasn't the case. Learn something new every day :)

I think they meant the snowgies...one of the articles said the snowgies, the other said Marshmallow

So it took nearly 2 years for them to keep the same track, same cue, same end area. I realize that it takes time to make animatronics...but couldn't they have kept Maelstrom open while they made those offsite? Why does it take Disney sooo much longer to make ANYTHING changed. Harry Potter at Universal was a completely new park and didn't take nearly as long.

Sniff sniff. I smell a Soarin' refurb coming not long after the opening of Frozen Ever After.

I understand why Disney is doing this because they are playing on the popularity of Frozen. Disney is a company and there first thoughts are about making money. I love Frozen, but the location in Epcot's World Showcase just don't make much sense to me . It doesn't fit at all as Frozen is a make believe land in the midst of Real Countries. They might as well take every trace of what is the country Norway out of that pavilion as it really has nothing to do with Frozen.
