haven't been yet but am hoping i can manage it next winter,
most of my clients who go regularly rave about the Kuramathi blue lagoon, thudufushi (which is quieter) and merendufushi (sp?)
also check out the new shangri la resort - YUM!!
Hi, we went for our honeymoon 10 years ago and stayed on an island call Giravaaru (can't remember the exact spelling). It is definitely worth looking at the travel agent's 'truth' brochure that they keep hidden away. When we went to book, I was quite keen on one island but someone had tipped me off about this truth book and I asked to see it. The description of the accommodation was awful - corrugated roofs, resembling army barracks - not exactly romantic.
It is worth also seeing how long the transfer from the airport island (Mali?)to your island is. Ours was about half an hour away by speedboat (a fabulous way to arrive) although some were considerably longer.
I would have loved to have had one of the water bungalows out over the ocean but our budget didn't stretch to that. Our room was right on the beach, which was lovely. We wanted a small, quiet island - I didn't really want 'organised fun'. We went night fishing and snorkelling, and that was about it. I have never been so relaxed.
We honeymooned on an island called half moon but it probably has another name now. It really was beautiful and I'd love to go back (Florida keeps calling though ) I would definitely suggest a water bungalow and look into going all inclusive
My sister went here last month and she said it was paradise. it was an all inclusive island they had a beachfront villa.
I was so jelous looking at their photos!!! lol
I have been but it was only for one day when we stopped of with the cruise ship can't remember which island I went on though!!
