Mal - hanging around here or on vacation?

I'm having issues with my computer and can't figure it out. Yep Laurie, I'm still as frustrated as I was last night.

Anyhow, I thought Mal had Norton's Internet Security 2004 and XP too. I think some of the problems are coming from that but it's more than I can figure out.

It's driving me

Could you come to my house and help get my computer to behave better? I think I only live 8 or so hours north of you

I have Windows XP and upgraded myself to the more expensive package of Norton's Internet Security. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not but ever since then I've had troubles - seems to have slowed down (online and offline). I updated Windows, went to HiJack This and posted my log (no reply yet). I did find some cooties using HiJack and fixed those myself. Still though it just doesn't seem to be where it was before the upgrade.

Any suggestions as to what else I should be looking at or checking? I can't imagine it's the computer. It's a Dell and only 2 years old. Does the heat make a difference? My room doesn't have windows and it's hot in here, I mean really hot.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you have.

Ha ha Laurie! I am frustrated but since it's a family / Disney board ... well, never mind!

It really slows down the puter because it scans eveything! And I do mean everything....but even with it installed and running I have still picked up two virus this year so for me it is not an option to turn it off.


I know that is not any help, sorry.

And actually, you were helpful. I was really thinking it was Norton's. I can't turn it off either. I thought about it but then when I went through the log I found some cooties that were "added as result of such and such virus".

So, just like you, even with it on I still got cooties.

Anyhow, I fixed what I felt comfortable fixing and left the rest alone.

How do I find out if I have these things? Thanks! How I don't sound like an idiot. When first I worked on computers, I had an IT department at my call. Now I just have DH. That's okay, but I'd like to fix something for a change.

One of the ones you have is a real nasties and can really damage your computer so I hope all is well.
