Alright, so I sat down with grumpy DBF this weekend and made him choose his top 10 places to eat. He narrowed it down to 13.

Our plan now, is to eat counter service credits for b-fast, and then do most of the rest table service, pay for some and use credits for some. We are just by ourselves, and are looking forward to eating sit down every meal and being waited on!

Here are the 13 places:
Boma
Sci Fi
Brown Derby
The Coral Reef
Nine Dragons
Germany
Teppan Edo
Le collier
England
Ohana
Flying fish
Raglan road
t-rex
California Grill

Now, keep in mind...we only have about 5 days to do this, plus one evening we can do a late dinner (going to seaworld for the day).

I need help narrowing it down between:

Cali Grill & Ohana: See my post about Ohana & wishes, in case you didn't...do they play the music on the beach? I want to eat at Ohana more than Cali Grill, explore the poly more than Contemporary..but really really want to see the fireworks from somewhere not in the park. Any suggestions??

Also trying to narrow it down at DHS, between Hollywood Brown Derby & sci-fi..might still do both though, depending.

Also, any suggestions on which ones for lunch and which ones for dinner?

Any help AT ALL will be great :) Thanks!

I wouldn't suggest Sci-Fi for dinner, but it seems to get good reviews for lunch.

Yes they do pipe the music in on the beach at the Poly, and also in Ohana's just incase your dinner runs a little late you can watch and listen from the window. I would choose Ohana's it's always one of our must do's. And we LOVE sci fi for lunch they have the best burgers, abd hot fudge sunday's EVER!!!!!!:thumbsup2

There's really no contest between CG and Ohana's, at least as far as food is concerned. And the location is unbeatable. Seeing the castle lit up while you eat is amazing, even if you aren't there during the fireworks.

If it were me, I'd explore I'd explore the Poly on another night and maybe take a walk on the beach or something and go to CG. You won't regret it (unless you've eaten there before and don't like the food, that is).

sci fi for lunch, brown derby for dinner

ohana for dinner, yes they have speakers near the beach for wishes

also a note, T-rex is very loud from the reviews I have heard. Just a warning if your are not into loud dining places.

Just a few opinions:

CG is one of my favourite restaurants and I would normally recommend it over Ohana. But from what you write, it sounds like Ohana would be the place for you. The view from the Poly beach is very nice and you see the fireworks from the same direction as Main Street. From CG you will see them from the side.

I would drop Nine Dragons and T-Rex even though I have no personal experience with either of those. But from reading the boards, Nine Dragons seems to be standard Chinese food as you can get it many other places, too. T-Rex appears to be mainly for the real Dinosaur lover and you already have one restaurant at DTD.

Also, I noticed that you have six restaurants at Epcot on your list. While I agree that those are mainly really interesting restaurants, you would spend a lot of time commuting to Epcot for your meals unless you plan to spend a lot of time there!

Thanks so much for your opinions so far!!

I do plan on spending a lot of time at Epcot. I think I will eliminate Nine Dragons from the list- most reviews are pretty crappy from what i hear. I really want to eat at T-rex, so I think i will keep that one.

I'm still stuck between 'Ohana and Cali Grill. I need more opinions! I wish I had more time at Disney!

I agree with the OP get rid of Si-Fi for dinner and go with it for lunch . And Ohanna in my opinion don't compare to Cali Grill. Cali Grill is so much nicer.

How about O'hanas for breakfast, then explore the poly a bit, have dinner at CA Grille and watch wishes from the observation deck or restaurant!! Have a great trip!!!:goodvibes

I have to say, California Grill was the highlight of our trip!

We ate a beautiful, delicious meal, and when the fireworks started we got to go out on the balcony as they piped the music into the restaurant... it was absolutely breathtaking.

I'd highly recommend this place, it was romantic and the food was just sooo good!! :thumbsup2

9 Dragons was fabulous when we had dinner there over Christmas/NY. It was much better than chinese takeout. My kids don't care for chinese and they ate up their meals and wanted to try mine and DH's! So if you nix it this trip, don't write it off completely. Before we went most of the reviews old and not good, but apparently they refurbed (don't know when) so now it is better.
