We just a reservation for lunch at BOG. 2 questions. In the Disney app, is there a place to note that it’s someone’s birthday in the party? Also will Belle or the beast be walking around during lunch?

Just have the birthday person wearing a birthday button. Then if the cm feel like it, they may give a free dessert- but it is unlikely. Sit downs usually give a free standard buttecream icing cupcake that they seem to have for that reason, but anywhere else is entirely on the whim of the cm. There are far too many people with a birthday button for everybody to be given pixie dust.

You could try calling in to add the note or telling the CM when you check in. BOG is a QS at lunch with no real dedicated server like you would have at a TS so YMMV regarding anyone there acknowledging a birthday.

ah ok. So this place you prepay for your food and the servers bring the food to you. I heard there is a way to order your food online so you can skip ordering the food at a kiosk.

Yes! And it's a huge time saver. We've done breakfast and a couple of lunches at BOG and pre-ordering made the process so easy.

Good to know. Do you know if staff will sing happy birthday? Also would they allow my daughter to blow out candles?

Not sure what kind of experience you are looking for. You will be sat at a table after you check in. Preordering is great. A server will bring your food to your table. You get your own drinks and silverware.
As pp said you can either try to call or mention at check in about the birthday but there are no guarantees. It is quick service for lunch. It is usually very busy and can be cafeteria like.
If you are looking for a little special birthday experience you may have better luck at a table service meal.

Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee that a birthday is recognized at BOG during lunch. While the surroundings are nice it is basically a cafeteria. If you have your heart set on some sort of candle/song celebration you can make a reservation somewhere else and order a cake to be delivered (see the cake chatter thread). You can't have anything delivered at BOG for lunch, only dinner.

My husband has eaten at BOG on his birthday numerous times because he likes to go to the MK, so that’s where we have lunch. We just order him a cupcake and our family sings happy birthday to him.

Doubtful that they'll sing happy birthday, or do any kind of recognition at all. Like said previously...it's quick service at lunch, and extremely hectic.

We are going to have to cancel then. Regarding that, the reservation for BOG is tomorrow at 2:00. If I cancel now, will I be charged. We decided on liberty tree tavern instead.

While Liberty Tree Tavern is a table service and there is a better chance that a birthday (or any special celebration) will be recognized there is no guarantee.

For our birthdays and anniversary we have received complimentary desserts, champagne, confetti at some restaurants as well as absolutely no mention of it at others (e.g. BOG at dinner). There are thousands of visitors celebrating something special - birthday, anniversary, wedding, honeymoon, engagement, graduation, life changing moment, family reunion, etc. - everyday at DisneyWorld so it is impossible for Disney to acknowledge every one of them.

To ensure that your birthday person has special recognition it is best to plan and pay for something yourself. There is a cake chatter thread pinned at the top of this board. Also podium cakes are available at the table service restaurants that can be ordered when you check in. The only guaranteed recognition is many castmembers will wish the person wearing a birthday button a "Happy Birthday."

Yep. Figure one in every 365 guests is in a park on their birthday. If there are 36,500 visitors on a given day in a park, that's a thousand people whose birthday it is.

Did you see post (think on resort board) a couple weeks ago because someone was upset they weren’t pixie dust upgraded (they had standard view aka parking lot view garden wing at Contemporary). They didn’t like the room and whined it was their birthday and CM didn’t acknowledge or upgrade room!

Too many posts of people expecting freebies- like you point out everyone is celebrating everything (at one time someone posted about a button for their daughter selling the most Girl Scout cookies or something like that). Disney can’t upgrade all rooms and hand out free food to everyone! Pay for room you want and birthday dessert. If you get pixie dusted you are in the minority and lucky!

This exactly.

I’m not sure it’s reasonable to expect a quick service restaurant to do much for a birthday. I mean, would you walk into your local Chipotle or Noodles & Co and think that the staff is going to come sing happy birthday?
