Starting long term planning for a family trip in 2018 and hoping to stay in OKW. This will be the first time ever, we've taken our entire family with grandchildren. We will need 3 units - a 1BR and 2 Studios. We (DW and myself) have stayed at OKW multiple times and know how large it is. We really need to get all three units as close together as possible. How can I maximize our chances of doing this. Usually I make all our ressies on-line. Would it be better to call MS and have them make the ressie for me and link them together and put on there to assign them close together? And/or should I call the resort before hand and put in the request? Any suggestions on going with a group (even though this isn't that large a group), would be greatly appreciated.

Once the reservations are made (on-line or by phone, it doesn't matter) you need to have MS place a Travel With on all of the reservations. This will alert the room assigner that there are multiple rooms and to try and place them as near to each other as possible.

Thanks loads.

If you book a 2 BR lockoff to cover the 1br and 1 of the studios then you'll have them side by side and can either open or not open the connecting door. It will also be a little lower point requirements than booking the 1br and studio separately. Then they just have to try and get the second studio close which is done with the "traveling with" notation on both reservations.

Studios are usually at the ends of the building. So if you are at one end, your other studio might be on another floor or the other end of the building.

Have the labeled as traveling with.
At SSR we were in the same building as my FIL doing it that way.

At vero beach we actually got connecting inn room. FIL is also a dvc owner and we each used our own points.

This would be my suggestion. Getting in the same building is about the best one can hope for. I'd do traveling with on both reservations and make no other requests including location. I wouldn't make any requests doing online checkin. I'd repeat my need on checkin. Still, one needs to double check the locations. It'd be best not to disturb the first room that's available in case something happens to potentially avoid a room change charge, assuming it's that important to be close.

I agree with those that suggest a 2BR lock off as long as you all staying the same number of days. Save some points and you guarantee at least two of the rooms are near each other. I would just suggest you request that the rooms be in the same building.

Thanks for all the replies. We don't have to be in the same building, but it would be nice to be within a building or two. A 2BR lockoff is not an option. Dealing with siblings and to be frank, we don't want to appear to be closer to one than the other (if you know what I mean). I think by just putting the traveling with notation on the three ressies will be fine. We want to be close but not on top of each other.

This sounds like potential drama in general, good luck with the trip. If your luck is like mine at times you'll end up with the lockoff paying the higher points and the other villa in a totally separate area some distance away.

Dean is right, if you have a 1 bedroom and a studio booked with the traveling with notation, they may actually put you together in a lock off and at the higher point cost. Just something to think about.
