Making payments on the Target Red Card

Let me ask a question that probably should be obvious to me, but is not...WHY would you want to pay off one credit card with another credit card? Isn't that defeating the purpose of paying off the credit card? You pay off one debt making another debt bigger. Nothing really got paid off just a balance transfer to another card.

Well, if I could pay off my Target Visa with another cc, I would so that I could earn points on my other cc And then I'd turn around and pay that card off. We carry no balances on any of our cc's ever but I certainly try to maximize the benefits that come with each card. Too bad Target won't let us do that.

Oh and for every five prescriptions filled at the pharmacy, paid with your Target Red Card or debit card, you get a 5% coupon mailed to you for future purchases. It's only good for about 30 days. If it's not used it's gone. And you can only use it for one days worth of purchases.

We are waiting on the next one to come in the mail and then we are going to purchase our Disney Gift Cards.

Just another way to save a little extra money!!

I wonder if it count toward that five if I make a partial payment using the Red Card. I have an HSA so it makes no sense for me to pay for prescriptions using my Red Card, but if I could put a dollar on the Red Card and the rest on my HSA, I could rack up 5% coupons fast! Although, if I'm buying $1,000 worth of gift cards, that extra 5% would be more than most of my prescriptions cost!

just a little warning, I have a Target Visa and I bought a LOT of disney cards to pay off our cruise, I had a pharmacy card so I decided to buy it all at once. I had no problem with the transaction and I paid the card online as soon as the balance posted the problem came when it took almost a month for the available credit to become available again when I called and asked why, they said that the system took a long time when such a large payment is made and suggested that I make several smaller payments next time.

I have the target cc and a target debit card, which of course saves 5%. Do we get 5% of gift cards if we use our Target card?

You get 5% off various "entertainment" cards located near the music and movies (to include the Disney cards).

You do not get discounts on the Target Gift Card.
