Making Our Return To DL In July!

So if it went unused there would be no way to obtain a credit for the amount spent?

Generally speaking no, but you could take the chance on getting a super sweet CM to give you the cost towards a new AP. I'd just book your 5 for 3 as the hotel only package. :)

Well, I decided to go ahead and book the HoJo. I was able to swing a premium queen/queen NQQ1 room using the 15% discount. I requested the 7th floor around room 1713 if possible. I hope to have a nice, unobstructed view of DL.

So, it will be our first time at the HoJo. Our last 3 trips we've stayed at CCI which we really like. But, we're in cash concious mode this time around and will be saving over $400 compared to the CCI premium room.

Thanks for making the July thread, Danny! I really like your work, I'm a photographer as well and will actually be moving to Santa Barbara this June/July to attend a pre-master's program at the Brooks Institute of Photography. I will be making a solo trip to Disneyland on July 16th (my 25th) and 17th strictly to take photos! What do you shoot with and which lenses do you use? For my digital I use a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 18-250 VR f/3.5-5.6 and a Sigma wide angle 14-28 f/2.8- ?(I can't remember, I bought it recently off a friend). And a Mamiya RB-67 w/ 220mm back film camera.

Hello Everyone! :wave2: I'm Bridgette and my trip dates for July are:

July 5-7th to celebrate my B-Day early with a friend. I'm going to make reservations at HoJo's as soon as it's later on the west coast.

July 16-17 @ HoJo's for my 25th. I don't feel like a loser for going solo on my Birthday... I actually can't wait to fill 2 memory cards! :cool1:

Hi Bridgette! Yeah, mechurchlady started the July thread at the link she just provided. This one is about my personal plans for our July trip and I will be putting my dates in the other thread soon.

As far as the photography comments, that sounds great about going to the Brooks Institute! I've made a couple of solo trips in the past year and a half and although I love the magic of DL and just being there, I focused mainly on taking pictures and trying to document the atmosphere that we all love so much. It was a blast. My equipment is in my signature and I also primarily use the Nikon D300 as the main body. The Nikkor 70-200VR f/2.8 can come in handy, but the workhorse is the Siggy 18-50 f/2.8. I love the sharpness of the copy I have and always seem to go back to it. Same for the Nikkor 70-300VR as far as being tack sharp. It's a wonderful and quite fun lens to use in the parks. :thumbsup2

Looks like our paths might cross again (last year my DW ended up in one of your pictures). We will be there July 18-24, staying at the HoJo as well. Maybe we will bump into each other! :thumbsup2

Wow was the camera info always in your siggy?! I'm full of naive moments lately... I swear I'm usually not this much of an airhead! :rotfl:

Oh, that's right. Quite the coincidence that our trips are coinciding once again!

Sorry to confirm your naivete, but it's been there.......:magnify:

Danny:
I will be looking forward to post trip photo's. Always great to see the park thru your eyes'

Jack

Thanks Jack. Hopefully I can manage to get some unique shots and perspectives like I've tried to do when I've gone solo. When I'm with my family I have to play nice and remember it's not all about the camera! ;) The wife and kids are pretty good about giving me some alone time with the Nikon, though.

I'll hopefully have some awesome photos to share too July 16-17. I'm going solo on my birthday with the plan to capture hundreds of amazing photos with my Nikon! Gotta love those long exposures!

Danny I love looking at all of your trip photos! I feel so inspired :goodvibes

That's very nice of you to say Bridgette. I look forward to seeing your shots after your trip. Solo with a camera is a blast! :thumbsup2

Congrats Danny!! I can imagine the excitement in your house when you announced it.

We asked the kids where they wanted to go this year (even though yosemite was going to definitely be part of it) and they resounded with Disneyland. We offered Disneyworld but they all said no way. It's nice for us because for our family of five its cheaper to go to DL than WDW.

Kudos to your family for getting off the plastic. We are still there unfortunately but I hope to get there someday. We have been alot better and only charge for emergencies. We are paying it down as we speak. I like to listen Dave Ramsey on the radio when I'm at lunch.
