Making 'Ohana reservations with an iffy friend

My DH, DS 6, DS 4, and myself are heading down in January. We are almost at our 180 days and I'm finalizing our dining. We are also giving my mom and her friends points to stay at the Poly while we are there. They have one friend who isn't sure she can go and hasn't indicated when she will give them an answer. I already explained that we can't just show up to 'Ohana with an extra person and the longer we wait to make a reservation, the less likely we are to get what we want.

Can we make the reservation for eight and adjust it to seven without a problem, or would we have to make a brand new reservation? I definitely wouldn't do it if it's frowned upon.

I would make the reservation for 8 to be on the safe side. If you show up with 7, they will seat you as 7, no penalty. If she ends up not coming, you could try to change the ADR to 7, but it won't be necessary.

Yes. You can show up for an ADR with less people and not be charged for the no-show.

Make it for 8. It won't matter if your friend backs out. On the other hand, you may have a difficult time adding them later.

I agree. Make it with 8. Adding another person would be more difficult.

I agree make ressie with everyone who could show in the count. no charge if someone shows. if your count would be 7 it might be easier to make ressie for 8 as sometimes it seems to easier with even numbers than odd. it would hard to increase your ressie from 6 to 7 later

YES!!! I am trying hard not to feel irritated, as I really like this friend of my mom's, and she doesn't realize that planning ahead for WDW is a necessity. That being said, I feel like saying 'make up your darn mind'!
