"Bring out your dead...bring out your dead..."
We are the lowly and unwashed, the huddled masses, the "day guests" your mama warned you about. We are a familiy of four here to prove that staying offsite is indeed not only possible, but enjoyable. When a sudden unemployment (aaak!!! the plague!) caused a lack of finance in our family we feared that the plague would triumph and we would be without the "magic" this year. But with the help of a quick head and a florida Savers coupon book, the magic is in reach. In the style of delswife and other greater trip reporters, I will introduce the cast of scurvy orphans and hagard pirates
attempting to make the point that EVEN staying offsite is worth it if you can be a part of the magic.
Me- 29 A pooh shaped pirate.A Disney lover from way back.. reads the DIS compulsively and loves every Disney Movie ever made.Justifies taking kids out of school for WDW with ease. KINDA likes staying offsite, since if we were onsite wed be at the allstars..(ew) and you cant get a hot tub at a value resort. Got the $45 a nite deal on the same hotel we stayed at last year since we brought my sister with us wich made 5 to the room and we couldnt afford POR. Loves Tink and is DYING to ride EE. Here's hoping it'll be open the day we are at AK.
Steve- Dad.33 Also shaped more like pooh than Captain Jack Hates twirling, drops, spinning, or anything fast. Will tollerate my Disney affliction. Loves turkey legs and will likely consume enough smoked turkey in the next week to actually induce scurvy. Would rather stay onsite since he is the driver in the family and really likes the Disney busses.
Thing One- 11 but looks far older than that. "chicken shute"( IE makes it through the preshow and all then takes the chicken shute out just before riding the ride) is a chicken hearted ride avoider. Is earning spending money by riding "big" rides without meltdowns. $5 for each of the following
Rock and Roller Coaster
Space Mountain
Dinosaur
Expedition Everest
Test Track
She has a lot of fears... I figure Disney is a good place to build her confidence. Riding a ride at Disney will not hurt her. She can do this. I know she can. I am not above bribes to help her achieve. Is a little worried about all the homework she is racking up by being gone from school for 5 days.
Thing Two- 5 very skinny little bug. Can survive on two beans and a scrap of bread for a week. Eats very little at one sitting. So I will spend much of my vacation trying to entice her to eat.Is the one who gave her older sister the "chicken shute" nickname. If she is tall enough, her butt will go on it. She is 45" tall and has NO FEAR. Loves Princesses and is dying to ride TOT again. Could care less about homework, or ever leaving Disneyworld again.
We are staying OFFSITE at the Seralago Resort. It isnt fancy. It isnt themed any better than your average motel. BUT its clean. The hotel has 3 heated pools and a fantastic hot tub. The rooms include a mini fridge and a microwave. They are also wayyyy bigger than an Allstar room. (ew) They offer a shuttle that is acceptable. They have a food court and a kids eat free program. Dominoes delivers there and they have a refillable mug available.
We have 5 day base tickets thanks to Mapleleaftickets.com. We bought 4 day tickets but they are offering a free upgrade. YAY us. We are planning to spend one day in each park and have one day in the middle to rest.Allowing my poor feet to rest.Ive always wondered why Pooh does not get blisters on his feet when the gang goes on long adventures in the 100 acre wood. I know I do.. no matter what kind of trendy foot wear/moleskin/gel insoles/ astroglide I aply. You lay like broccoli 360 days a year and then suddenly walk 16 miles in one day. You will get blisters. Its a fact. I gladly suck it up.
We are driving from our Dillon (think BIG lighted sombrero off of I-95) SC home leaving at about 2 am tonight. I am pretty exited and have been having the "disney world bounces" (an affliction where at any given time for no apparent reason I will begin bouncing and chanting "Im going to Disney World" repeatedly.) for about 2 weeks.
We are a mixed family. Thing One is the result of my husbands first marriage, and Thing Two is the result of tooo many mai tai's one 4th of July at a beach Boys concert. Steven and I have been married for 2 years and our first trip to WDW 3 years ago before we were even married, was the first time we truely felt like a family. So, like so many others, its our "happy place".
See yall in a little more than a week when I will be , broke, beat, but bountifully, beautifully bonded.
