HOW MANY OF YOU MAKE MEALS IN WHEN AT A HOME AWAY FROM RESORT? OR DO YOU EAT OUT?

We eat quick breakfasts in. I may make pancakes one morning. We may warm up leftovers for lunch but all diners are eaten out! I am on vacation and do not want to cook and do dishes. I do the laundry and make the beds and that is enough.

We always eat breakfast in. Sometimes we eat lunch in. We never eat dinner in the room. We have PS for almost every day of our upcoming trip.

We mix it up. Although we are not likely to eat many Dinners in the room, we definitely eat some breakfasts and some lunches.

We also do snacks in the room!

depends upon how the tight the budget - tight - every meal is in the room period. - not so tight - then we eat out - generally lunch (cheaper) - get breakfast and dinner in the room -

Now I have allegic problems - so I am probably less likely to go eat out when I have no control over what is in the food - yes I know you can talk to the chefs - but this becomes very old and waste alot of my time - it is easier, faster and generally quicker for me to cook my meals and eat in the room.

We eat breakfast in the room almost every day-but we don't cook-it's yogurt or cereal..every so often we'll get English muffins and have those.
On the trip when my kids were 1 and 3, toward the end of the trip one night we went to the grocery store and got a cooked chicken and some mashed potatoes form the deli and I heated up a can of corn, but that's the most cooking I have ever done. I was sick of going out to eat with 2 little ones who wouldn't sit. LOL

I think the answer to this question may vary with the number and ages of the children in your party. We have three young children, and one of the things we love about DVC accomodations are the kitchens in the villas. After a long day at the parks, a PS at a sit-down restaurant with three children is not always the most relaxing experience in the world. We really enjoy being able to come back to our room and put on a DVD for the children to watch while we prepare dinner. Of course, we will choose one of our many favorite WDW dining spots for one or two evenings, but for the others we will retreat back to the BCV.

For example, for our upcoming 5-night stay at the BCV, we plan to cook a casserole-type dish one night that makes enough to serve leftovers a second night. A third night we will order pizza (Pizza Hut if my children choose, or Giordano's if I choose ). I have the CP dinner package booked for a fourth night, and I'm still trying to figure out the fifth night. We will eat breakfast in our room almost every day, and lunch will be at the parks.

Breakfast in the room - cereal, toast, and yes - I've even used the stove (scrambled eggs). Snacks (like microwave popcorn).

We have two little kids and I'm the opposite - after a long day in the parks - I can't imagine cooking and insist on a PS at a decent restaurant. My kids sit pretty good if you wear them out enough. Eating out has become one of the highlights of our vacation.

if money is not a problem - all the DVC resorts (except OKW) at WDW have a very good room service - so you can eat in and have WDW deliver your food.

Why does everybody keep going on about the size of kitchens when it looks as if they aren't used

Breakfast almost every am, cereal, eggs, pancakes, french toast - whatever. We also purchase cold cuts in case anyone is in around afternoon time for a quick sandwhich or grilled cheese. Dinner is always out. We might order in or pick up something and have it in the room, more laid back and relaxing.

We eat one big sit down meal out, usually lunch. The rest we do at the resort. If we do a big lunch, then when we take a break in the afternoon, we grab a sandwich before heading back to the parks. If we do a big dinner, we usually have a light snack mid day in the parks to make it to dinner.

DH loves to make omlets for breakfast each morning.

We like to eat lunch out at a restuarant.

But sometimes we get tired of eating dinner out each night and we like to curl up and relax in our home away from home and enjoy a nice dinner of foods we are used to.

So far, we've done some pasta dishes and we've have take out pizza. Next time, I believe I am going to have a roast beef dinner cooked together with potatoes, carrots, celery and onions--cooked in one of those oven bags. (yum!). Chocolate cooked pudding for dessert.
DS loves roast beef sandwiches made of some of the left overs and then the remaining left over roast beef is cut up into pieces and cooked together with home made gravy (made from the juice from the roast plus beef boullion cubes/water) and served over mashed potatoes (comfort foods )--add a vegetable and dinner is complete! And then maybe a special room service dessert to finish it all off. Sweet!

It's a mix for us. If it is a long (7 - 8 nights) we sometimes prepare simple meals for dinner or late lunch. Short trips we eat out. Long trips we drive, so I've prepared things at home that freeze well and bring along servings of them. It helps me get in the mood for the trip! That way we have some "home cooking" without the cooking. We do enjoy eating out also.

We always do breakfast in the room - cereal, bagels, english muffins, scrambled eggs & sometimes bacon & sausage! We do try to get to Trail's End Buffet at least once for breakfast though.

Lunch is either sandwiches made & taken to the pool or if we're in a park it's there.

Dinner is out a lot, but at least once we order pizza in, we almost always do spaghetti & this time we even did a chicken dinner, which was very easy & very enjoyable!

I love eating out, but as others have said, sometimes you just want to kick back & chill & not go out to eat. One of the things that make so DVC so great is that you have this option. With a regular hotel room you couldn't do this - most likely every meal would be out.

we always eat out for dinner- lunch we just buy some
cold cuts...

We do breakfat in so we can sit around in our jammies and watch the news and wake up.
Lunch is out.
Dinner is in the room so we can relax and watch the news again.
