Making Meals In Survey

We have breakfast in the room - very fruit heavy - maybe some french toast as well (we make it), lunch is a split whether we get back in time or not - if we do get back; melts, soup, salads

Dinner is 1 night out with DW, 1 night out with the kids, the rest in the room cooking - pasta, chicken, pizza, salads etc....

Except at VB - we just wanted to eat at Shutters there because it was so easy....

thanks

At VB we use the kitchen for most meals. We make breakfast (cereal, english muffins, fruit, etc), lunch (sandwiches, salads, leftovers), dinner (simple items or pre-cooked food that we pick up at local grocery stores). We eat about two dinners a week out at a restaurant.

At OKW (one bedroom or higher) we make breakfast, most lunches and one or two dinners a week in the room. Other than that we usually eat out.

At other DVC resorts on property, we will have breakfast in the room, but eat most other meals out (the kitchens and dining areas are too small for us to be comfortable).

"Why does everybody keep going on about the size of kitchens when it looks as if they aren't used"

Because it is a nice feature to have if you want to use it. Having options are a positive.

It actually looks like quite a few people use the kitchen, even if it is only for breakfast. I just think the convenience & having the option is nice. :D

MELSMICE ,
I was just thinking about that aspect, too. I used to stress out about getting the right PSes (at the right time) during heavy demand times--but, having a kitchen available takes away the worry.
We always have a fall back position where we could eat our meal at the villa if we can't get our desired PS.

We always use the kitchen, making only one PS a day if we have lunch PS we will then eat at Villa for dinner, if PS is for dinner we will have lunch at Villa. Just back from WL and stayed with Florida Resident Special, great rate on room, but paying for each meal was way expensive. I love planning our menus for vacation and my family likes my meals better then some we have had at parks.

Honey baked ham, potato salad, baked beans, and rolls
Spaghetti with homemade sauce, salad and rolls
Honey baked ham store has ribs that are great with corn on the cob, and left-over baked beans.
One of our local Tea Rooms has the best Chicken Salad ever made and they sell it by the pound.
Hot dogs, chips

All breakfast in the room - cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, or sausage one time during the stay. The children also love the frozen pancakes.

So other than making Sauce, potato salad, and baked beans before we leave the prepare time is about 15 minutes or less.

We always eat breakfast in, and if we have guests, we usually have a main meal or two in as well just for the fun of it. If it is our family, we usually eat out for our main meal, but we might have a light supper in as well as breakfast.

We are OKW chefs too. When we stay there, we always make a full, filling breakfast. We may just snack during the day and eat a nice dinner out (depending on our plans), or eat a nice late lunch and fix a light dinner in the room. Our DD loves the evenings kicking back in our room, we like eating out, so we compromise. At BCV, we've always had a studio. I've managed about half our breakfasts in-room, maybe take-out a couple of times at night, but Spoodles and Cape May are too good to resist! Diana

We've only had 3 trips home so far. And most meals are in the room. Special occasions we will eat out. And I love to eat Breakfast at least once at Perkins...
But I'm a good cook and enjoy cooking so I take advantage of the kitchen facilities. If it is a studio I make use of the microwave and toaster. George Forman grills are great too. I have a medium size model that is wonderful. Pork Chops yummy. Tuna Steaks delicious. Grilled cheese sandwiches simple but good. :bounce:

July:earsboy: ;)

This might sound sort of - tight - but our first trip home will be hopefully (fingers crossed) in June. We have 2 teens graduating in June from high school and thought that this would be a nice get away - especially since one - get this - our DD is going into the Army.

So anyway - we plan on getting a one BR. The deal or plan is and again you might think we are being a little tight - our plan is to stock the kitchen with enough food for our visit. That way we can eat when we want. The 2 teens have been told if they want to eat out then they are on there own. We will do a couple nice dinners out while we are there but I don't want to hold them down to a set schedule. This would let them come and go as they want. Will see if this happens or not
