making last minute reservations?

I am trying to spend all of our pts (we haven't bought yet but are planning to) and the way things work out, I would end up with either 9 or 11 pts left to use, basically 1 night's stay somewhere. I am planning on going to visit SIL with DD next Feb (she lives in Tampa) so I could use my 1 night then but I will want to wait for some airfare deals so I would probably be booking my stay between 4-6 weeks ahead of time. Is this possible? It would be for a studio, no resort preference in Dream season. If I can't book, I could always rent the points or bank them or give them to SIL to use whenever so it is not a huge deal if I can't get a night, I just wanted to know what my chances would be.

Well I just booked a few nights at OKW with 2 weeks notice.

We arrived 1 day early for our trip in April (sping break week in the northeast). We called MS at 4 PM when we arrived and they helped us find a room at SSR for that night.
