Making Good on a Very Merry Promise! COMPLETE!

Great update Nicole as usual. :thumbsup2

Love the Mickey ears - haven't seen those before.

My dad wants to retire and be a ferry boat captain also! :sail:

Glad your boys weren't traumatized by the HM. I wanted to take Sam when she was 5 but she was terrified I just couldn't do it. Then, when she was 6 I dragged her on - she was fine because I told her what to expect before hand and made jokes with her the whole time. Now she enjoys the ride. :)

Looking forward to AK day with Grandma! :cool1:

Hi Michelle! :wave2:

I think those mickey ears are new because everywhere we went we got lots of compliments on them ~ even the CM's were saying they hadn't seen them before. Owen even got a pin of the mouse ears! :thumbsup2

M

Can't you get fast passes for POTC? :confused3 I just assumed... you know what they say about "when you assume..." :rotfl2:

I'll have to go looking on that secrets thread again and see if I can find the post about it being haunted... something about someone died during construction and you yell out his name or something like that. I'll see if I can find it.

G. then blot with the shout wipe. There you go... Nicole's laundry tip of the day! ;)

Gotta watch those signs! You have no idea how many times I have heard that I am a terrible co-pilot! :sad2:

Yep, I definitely know what they say about assume and that is all I am saying:rotfl:

UPDATE HERE!!!

Monday, Nov. 26 ~ ANIMAL KINGDOM WITH GRAMMA

Here is a shocker… we arrived at AK at 9:30! :happytv: I had not bought my Mom a ticket yet because I thought she could get a FL resident discount… but nooooooo… only on multiple day tickets. Darnit! She tried to pay for her own ticket but I wouldn’t let her! She hosted us for Thanksgiving so it was my treat!

With Gramma’s ticket in hand we headed into the park. I absolutely love the Christmas tree at AK. It is covered with huge animal ornaments.

IMG_0806.jpg

On our drive over to the park this morning, Abby’s hair band broke. She really wanted her hair in a ponytail ~ she gets hot otherwise. (She inherited a head of thick hair from me.) Anyway, we told her we’d find one as soon as we could in the park. We hit the first gift shop through the gates… nope, no ponies (that’s what we call them).

Our plan was to go to the safari and do that first. We headed toward the Tree of Life and took the path to the left. You know that cluster of shops near Pizzafari before you go over the bridge into Africa? We stopped there to look for ponies. We found some! For the low, low price of $8.00 we got a 2 pack of fancy rubberbandy things with Minnie heads and beads on them. Gramma found a pin she liked… Snow White.

Side note… my mom has a group of friends she has had since high school. Seven of them to be exact. They all decided way back in the day to have nicknames and since there were 8 of them total they chose Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. My mom is Snow White! Hence the need for the Snow White pin! End of useless info side note!

Anyhoo… the boys each found a pin they wanted too. Evan got a yoda pin and Owen got the pin I mentioned earlier ~ it’s a little version of the Mickey ears they both got.

We aren’t getting to the safari very quickly are we??? :sad2:

Our purchases made we headed out the door only to stop again and put Abby’s hair in a pony tail. Gramma tried first. Nope, not how she likes it. I try second and it’s alright… not perfect though. Grrr…. Onto the safari!

Over the bridge and into Africa and we find a 30 minute wait for the safari. We decide to get fast passes and then walk the Pangani Trail.

OOOOOhhhhh…. Gramma loved it! The first animal we come to is the gorillas and she can’t believe they have them! She was impressed… Disney magic! :cloud9: We took lots of pictures in the gorilla area because we were hoping that one big one that was hiding would come out. Here is the best we got of that guy.

:confused3

Then more gorillas.

IMG_0813.jpg

Some kinda goat thingy… can’t remember it’s name! But it has zebra striped legs… cool.

IMG_0807.jpg

Some ducks…

IMG_0809.jpg

Then more of the kids and Gramma.

Here is a meerkat that I waited a long time to get a shot of. It was standing up in the “lookout” position. But there was a family blocking my shot and they would not budge! So I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally they moved! And so did the meerkat!

IMG_0810.jpg

The boys were saying along the path that they wished they had some binoculars. Gramma took note.

We finished the path and the kids were whining about being thirsty. We still had a bit before our fast pass time and since it was 11:00 and we had early ressies at Rainforest for dinner we thought we’d eat. Gosh… we’ve done ONE thing and we are stopping to eat!

We choose here:

IMG_0823.jpg

Yep, Pizzafari! Sorry Uncle John… we didn’t go to Flame Tree! These boys of mine wouldn’t eat there!

We ordered 4 personal sized pizza’s and 2 orders of breadsticks and a drink for everyone. We’d thought we’d go all out and buy drinks instead of the kool-aid ~ you know since we had company! We had this place practically to ourselves. I loved the murals on the walls!

This was waayyyy too much food! We threw quite a bit out. But I have to say… I am very particular about pizza and this was good stuff! We will eat there again.

By the time we were done the place was filling up! Sweet… avoided the rush.

Now… time for a safari! But wait… on our way there is a cart and they have binoculars! Gramma says the boys must have them for the safari! Here is a bad pic of them getting their binoculars. They were happy with them… not sure why they look so sad.

IMG_0824.jpg

Finally we are heading into the safari! :woohoo:

Up next: The Safari... FINALLY!

Great update, Love! I don't blame Abby for wanting to put her hair up. I have long, thick hair, too, and it does get HOT! We got Kyleigh one of those ponytail holder sets with the Mickeys on them, too. She never wears them, though, cause they get all tangled in her hair. Waste of money.

That stinks that gramma couldn't get a resident discount. She should get an annual pass! I know I would if I lived that close!!

Those pics of the gorillas are great! That one looks like he's sitting there all mad with his arms folded.:lmao:

Cute pics of the kids, too! They look like gramma!

Glad to hear you liked Pizzafari. I'm going to have to try that someday.:thumbsup2 Did your DS (I forget which one is picky) destroy his pizza before he ate it?

Hmmm, I wonder how long you waited for the safari.popcorn::

Happy New Year! Great start to your AK day - looks like grandma is enjoying herself so far. We love Pizzafari too - we ate there twice in a two week time frame! I have an aversion to meat on the bone so Flame Tree may not be so great for us. :)

Subscribing! Will be reading more tomorrow night but wanted to make sure I don't lose you!!!

Hey Tat!

The CM tried to talk my mom into a 3 day pass at least - it wasn't that much more than 1 day at the regular price. But her DH wouldn't go with her and we don't have another trip planned yet and neither does Uncle John and my sister so she was afraid it would be wasted.

My kids look like my mom? Really? Most people think my kids are Tom's mini-me's! If I'd gotten into more pictures you could compare them to me!

And yes... we had to tear the cheese off of Evan's pizza before he'd eat it! I'm not complaining though! Monica has it worse since her 6 yo has declared vegetarianism! (How's that going Monica?)

Thanks Michelle! I was pleasantly suprised at how good Pizzafari was. I'm thinking you are right about Flame Tree!

UNCLE JOHN SAYS:
Pizzafari is fine with me......but if I can have ribs, what the hey!! I know a lot of people who have the meat on the bone dissorder!! LOL (bonofobia).

You know what?? I think Evan is on to something....While at your house I tried a piece of his Pizza with no cheese......not bad, not bad at all...we would all do better with a little less cheese in our lives!!! Tell him I said he s OK:thumbsup2 in my book!!

Love the Gorillas at the PFT....I could just sit and watch them for hours, kind of like they do with us !!!!! Do you think at the end of the day they pick up their lunch pail and walk back to the barns?? LOL
