Knock Knock……………..

Who’s There?

GRAMMA!

Yep, it’s my Mom! :yay: I’m very excited about this! :yay: Can you tell? We’re going to just refer to her as Gramma from here on out, okay? Gramma lives just north of Tampa with my step-dad. He’s not coming cuz he’s another one of those stick-in-the-mud types! Gramma has never been to Disney! Lived in FL for 3 years now and never gone! So I was very excited when I asked her if she would come over and visit at least one park with us she said YES! :thumbsup2 She would like to come with us to Animal Kingdom. Yay! The kids are very excited as well and wish Grampa would come too… but oh well.

Now I’ve got that 5th day ticket just burning to be put on the schedule somewhere! So far I’ve only scheduled one day at Epcot and I know it isn’t enough. :sad2: This will be our first time at Epcot! We didn’t go the last trip because I thought the kids were too young for it. When I began planning the “trip that never was” it was actually an article on Epcot that gave me the bug to go again. It was on Family Fun’s website and written by Kim Wright Wiley… she is the author of Fodor’s WDW with kids… love that book! Anyway, she was explaining all the things you could do at Epcot with younger children and it got me all fired up to go! So, I’m really looking forward to Epcot this time. Owen is so psyched about test track! Oh, I veered a little there… sorry. Back to that 5th day. I’ve been trying to figure out how to use it at Epcot. We could go during the day of the 27th… the day we go to MVMCP. But then there goes the day off we wanted. Oh what to do??? Well, I’ve had this little idea rumbling around in my head just waiting for the right time to mention it to Tom. I prepared all of my valid reasons why I thought it would be a good idea. I was prepared for a lengthy debate! Sunday night I decided the time was right. I snuggled up next to him and said, “So, I’ve been thinking…”
He said, “Uh-oh.”
I said, “How many more vacation days do you have laying around?”
He said, “A few… why?” He was squinting at me and bracing himself for the blow.
I said in the most charming way I could, “Do you think you could take the day before Thanksgiving off so we could leave early and go have Thanksgiving with my mom? Then we could make a much shorter drive over to Orlando on Friday, arrive bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and go to Epcot!?”
And he said, “Oh I see… 5th day ticket, huh? “
He knows me so well!
And then he said, “I don’t see why not!”
:woohoo: WOOHOO!!! :woohoo:

Thanks Carla! Waste not, want not with that ticket, eh? What does that even mean?? Something my grampa would've said - but it seemed appropriate!

And the "uh-oh"... I think that is the universal answer to "honey, I've been thinking!"

I knew all along it was Gramma!!!!! I will clue her in on AK...She will love it.....

Yes... you do have connections on the inside! ;)

Nick,
You are missing some classic Michigan weather......88 on Monday had the central air on, Wed. it is 40 and we turned the heat on.....go figure!!

That is classic MI weather alright... and I'm not there... but to say I'm MISSING it would be a stretch!

Nicole I'm so happy for you and your family! Not only are you going to Disney, but you get to spend Thanksgiving with your mom! You are going to have such a magical time! Your schedule sounds great, and I can't wait to hear more!:)

Well, thanks again everyone for chiming in!

Since I've been writing this I've found it a little harder to keep up with my other threads! Plus I've had a couple of very busy days! So I'm off to catch up on everyone else but I should be back around this evening!

See ya later!

Eveyone's been so quiet today! I know what you mean about the TR taking alot of time. I was going to start reading some others, but I don't have time!:confused3

It is quiet around here! I'm guessing because the boards have been so slow. :confused3

Hey, I have an update! I was just about to post it! :thumbsup2

UPDATE HERE!

Nov. 21~ :car:

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go! Okay, well, we will drive over an intercoastal waterway and there are some trees along the way… but that’s as close as it will get!

We will pull out of our driveway very early. Like 6-ish. Not too bad. I am working on stuff to keep the kids busy in the car. I’ve collected some coloring books (from DVC actually) and some activity books (Disney themed of course!) I’ve got to get stickers and new markers (washable!) and just more stuff in general. I haven’t really gone shopping for things, it is just stuff I’ve picked up here and there. One thing I did when we dove to MI for Christmas was get pipe cleaners and beads and the kids made “jewelry” all the way there! Even the boys liked this. And they had lots of pretties to give to their aunts, cousins and Gramma when we got there! I may do that again.

We also have 2 portable DVD players. Abby doesn’t always want to watch what her brothers are watching. I usually pick up a couple DVD’s they have not watched before and surprise them with them in the car. Last summer before we moved down here to NC, the kids and I were driving down to visit DH because he had already started working down here and he couldn’t get home every weekend. I got HS Musical for Abby and loaded it up in her DVD player and told her to start it while we were pulling out of the driveway! She was so excited when it started playing and I didn’t hear a peep out of her for 9 straight hours! She watched it over and over again with her headphones on! It was lovely. :cloud9:

Our drive will be about 10 ½ hours, with stops. Oh, I almost forgot! We made this trip in April for spring break. We had never been down 95 before. From MI, we always took 75 or 65 south and kind of got to know where to stop and all that. Since we’d never been down 95 before we had no idea where to stop! I mean, those road signs are nice and all but sometimes they don’t list everything and we kept debating “Should we stop here or try the next exit?”. Ah, but since then, I found on wdwinfo under “transportation” a list of everything at every exit down the east coast on 95! Gas stations, fast food places, all that good stuff. :hyper: I was so excited I printed it all out! All 35263849563425 pages (like that Tat?)! I thought I was perty smart but when I showed Tom he just shook his head and muttered something at me. :sad2: I’m almost positive it was along the lines of “you need help” but he’ll never admit it. :rolleyes1 Just wait until we are rolling down the highway and he wants to know where we will find the next, say, Citgo? I’ll just pull out my handy dandy list and say, “How do ya like me now?!?!” :woohoo:

We should make it to Gramma’s by dinnertime!
End of Day one.

I like it!:rotfl:

Don't forget to stop at South of the Border to see Pedro. Sharky told me to, but I didn't make it.:sad2:

DVD players definitely sound like a good idea. Trust me, coloring books and homework just don't keep kids amused like they used to.

Another great update:thumbsup2

10 hrs....not too bad at all.

You going to drive all that in one day??

DVD players are a godsend in the car. Now, ds is wearing headphones, so life is goood:cool1:

Pedro has too many billboards! I don't think I like him! :sad2:

Get this... my mom drove up from Florida to visit and we were joking with her about did she stop at Pedro's. She said... and I kid you not... "Pedro's? I didn't see it." How can you miss it??? :confused3

Heck yeah all in one day! That has nothing on our all in one day drive to Michigan! We do that in 13 1/2 if Tom is driving... I did it with the kids over the summer and it took me 15! :sad2: On the way home I split it in half and stayed somewhere in Ohio. :thumbsup2

Happy Friday everyone!!! :cool1:

I've got a busy, busy weekend! I'm going shopping today for a birthday gift for Tom :cake: ... he turns 40 on Sunday! Tonight we are going to a HS football game to see our cousin march in the band. :rockband: Tomorrow I have got to clean the house and do laundry. :laundy: Tomorrow night we have a sitter coming and we are going on with some friends and family to celebrate the big 4 - 0! :drinking1 And then Sunday we are going to the State Fair! It should be fun! :cheer2:

So... I won't be around here too much!

One last thing... I heard from a semi-reliable  source that my dear sister may be reading my report on the sligh. :confused3 Just in case it's true everyone say hi to my DSis and all her friends at work! And this is from me to her :  I miss you.

See ya all later!!!
~nicole

He'll thank you later...when he needs a peepee break or a slurpie! ::yes::

That is hilarious she didn;t see the Pedros signs...all 100 of them:lmao: :lmao:

Your weekend sounds great!!

Tell DH Happy BDAY!!!!

Hi DSis and frineds at work:yay: :yay: :yay:

Great update ! I am scared to go back to Epcot. My first time was with my daughter when she was 2 1/2 and we have not been back since.

I saw Tesla a few years ago acoustic and they still ROCK !

Congratulations on the extra day !!!!

I once walked up and down Bourbon street like a hundred times because the lead singer from Cinderella was eating at a restaurant and I kept passing by the window.

We have a ten hour drive, but it took us 13 hours with two toddlers, a six year old and a baby!

Enuff Znuff, Def Leppard, Queensryche  :cloud9:

Love the handy dandy list. BTW --- my husband thinks I need "help" too. ;)
