When we travel we usually take a small electric kettle to make early morning cup of coffee. Are there facilities for this in stateroom as in hotels perhaps or should be bring ours with us?

:goodvibes I would say negative.. There are no facilities to do this.. There are also very few plugs available...You would need an a power outlet.. There is free room service, you could even request this the night before for a certain time....
Or there is the beverage station on deck 9, which is 24hrs...

HTH :)

I second the room service suggestion! :earsgirl:

Your coffee will be available to you whenever you want it. Just place your order outside your stateroom door the night before.

Can you enlighten me about the quality of the coffee as we sometimes find it almost tasteless and that is why we bring our own with us.

I am a tea drinker, but have heard from Hubby that it is not "the best"!1 He says think nescafe..

There is also a COVE CAFE, which is additional, but according to most, THE BEST.....They make many different kinds, and I can attest for the warm cozy atmosphere...and it is Adults Only :cool1:

I don't know that they would allow for a coffee maker to be brought from home...you know fire hazzards...and small spaces. But you could always call DCL and ask. Have you thought of a coffee press? I use one....at work and it makes the BEST coffee. That way you could bring your own beans (pre ground or bring a grinder also)...and just order HOT water from room service..then press away. Most coffee presses are glass...but they do have others. I have the stainless seal Starbucks coffee press....I think I can make atleast 5 cups at a time...good sized cups. And right no Starbucks is having it's home brew sale....the the press is on special right now. I'd suggest if you love good coffee...to try a press...it really makes the BEST.

The coffee served in the restaurants is Nescafe and if you are used to Starbucks you will not be happy.I think the easiest is to get the melitta one cup cone filter and go to deck 9 and run the hot water thru it.You could also order room service if the water is still really hot enough for the press.
I used the outlet by the side of the dresser for charging my camera etc. and that would be your best bet if you need to bring a coffee maker with you.
However the best coffee is in the Cove cafe.

The coffee at the coffee station is yuck. Coffee at the Cove Cafe (although I have never gotten just a cup of brewed, only cappuccinos) is good.

Starbucks sells single french presses in a stainless mug and I know some camping stores sell french presses made out of plastic so they won't break. All you would need for these is some ground coffee from home and hot water from the beverage station.....I may try this in September.

I forgot you were from England....I am not sure if they will have the same merchandise in stores that I was describing, but here's some pics to maybe give some ideas. The single serve coffee press is at the bottom, and there is a nice, non breakable stainless press as well in the middle....

I drink 3-4 Venti Starbucks a day and I've found the coffee on the ship to be equal to the mild selection of the day.

Remember you are on vacation, why would you want to make you own coffee?

And now with the Cove Cafe, I can get my triple shot Latte's. Except on the last cruise I got adicted to the frozen capacino, 2 shots of expresso, vanilla ice cream and crushed ice, YUM!! :drinking:

The press that I mentioned I had was the second one down in the photo shown in the link a couple posts above. I can't say enough good things about it... Not only is it stainless and non breakable...but also thermal so it keeps your coffe that's left in the pot hotter for longer than the glass ones. We got my friend the single cup press that's also shown on that link...and although she does like it...it only makes one cup....So you'd probley need more than one.

Do you have Starbucks near you?

Atigeg..."Except on the last cruise I got adicted to the frozen capacino, 2 shots of expresso, vanilla ice cream and crushed ice, YUM!! " That does sound YUMMY...I'm going to have to try one of those when we cruise in October 05.
