I want to make our books out of plain heavy white paper and foam covers and ideas on how to bind them.

A bit off topic, but heres what I did.... I got the autographs and pics of my son with the characters as they signed. I bought a photo album book at WDW. When I got home, I scanned all the autographs and shrunk them down to take up half a photo page. I then added the corresponding pics of my son, printed them out and popped them in the book. I need to do it for my daughter now too. It looks really nice.

You may want to cruise over to the CreativeDISigns board too. Those people are SUPER creative and and really have great ideas. Good Luck!!

BTW, I bought spiral-bound colored index cards and I am going to cover the front/back cover with my DDs name designs that I got from that board.

Have fun!

Wal Mart had really nice foam covered books with heavy paper inside that were under $3 on sale. If you already have yours done and need to bind it, Kinkos can usually do it for not too much money.

I made mine out of index card books, that are perforated. When we get home, I can tear them out to put in scrapbook next to photos. A pen slips under the elastic closure and I added a ribbon or shoestring for a wrist strap.

WOW! Those autograph books look great! I want to make my own books for our next trip too, we have so many of the generic books I thought it was time to try something new. Those are just index card books slipped into a clear cover? Impressive -- what great ideas!

I just came back a week ago, and instead of an autograph book, I had the characters sign a photo mat. (I bought a frame at the craft store that was designed for 2 smaller pictures, with a very wide boarder. I removed the mat and took just that piece with me.) I got 9 autographs on it, and will put in the 2 best pictures. I absolutely love it because now the memories will be hanging on my wall instead of put away in a drawer!

(But, if you're really looking to make the books as a lead-up activity with the kids, I would just punch holes along one edge with the smallest paper-punch you can find, and sew them.)
