Have any of you actually considered making and selling your shirts? There is no way that I could ever do this as I am not 'crafty' at all! By following your instructions, I've managed to make one set of matching shirts for our family, but it took 2 tries. lol!

I keep seeing people asking about buying matching shirts on these boards. Often they are referred to the Disney Store or to Zazzle.com. I have to tell you that the designs I see on this board blow anything they have completely away. I'm not sure what the copyright or trademark issues would be, but I think you would really be providing a wonderful service for other 'non-crafters', like me. Besides, most of us wouldn't mind supporting a talented Disser's Disney habit.

I wish some of you talented people would think about it!

There is a copyright violation when using the disney designs and profitting from them. That's why no one will sell anything. You really don't need to be crafty if you use one of the designs that someone already has made. Making the design is the difficult part. Printing it out and ironing it on a tshirt is easy.

Just to reinforce what Tammi has said - if you try to sell any of these designs, either as a transfer or a completed t-shirt, you will shut us down. The Disney police will be sure to stop all of the fun we've all had and I believe the DIS board would get into some trouble. So I wouldn't try it.

That being said - yes, some of these designers are very talented and we're lucky they are around to help the rest of us! They do blow away some of the professional sites that are licensed to sell Disney merchandise.

Couldn't we also use what we have learned here about these designs and sell our own non-disney shirts as long as the images are not copyrighted?

I would check with the moderators or web masters on that one - does anybody know??

I can see that I wasn't very clear. What I should have said is, within the copyright limitations has anyone considered making and selling shirts. I understand that it wouldn't be possible to use depictions on the characters, etc. What about tie-dye Mickey shirts? Or solar flare swirl shirts? Maybe just using the Disney font to write names or something across a t-shirt. I really loved some of the 'ears' creations, like the sports balls in formation.

Really, I would never encourage someone to break the law! And I agree with WDW that they own the character likenesses. I guess what I was thinking was more along the lines of a fellow dis-er being able to profit from the incredible talent I see here on this board. It just seemed to be a win-win situation for members here on the board, those with the talents and those without.

I think it is wonderful that you guys do this for free and will help others make their own shirts, but trust me when I say that some of us are really hopeless at this. I know that for what I spent, both in money and time, making shirts for our trip, I would gladly have paid any of you to do it and would have most likely been happier with the result. For me, these efforts start as an exciting project, but end as a frustrating and disappointing experience. It would be much easier and more fun to go to the mail box and find a box with some of your gorgeous shirts inside. LOL! I know that there won't be many on this board that will agree with me. Most of us 'craft challenged' others don't frequent this board.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I know that FeralPeg was able to get business off this site when she was making gift baskets. Now that she is no longer doing this, I've heard a lot of people have been disappointed because they can not find someplace to give such personalized service. Mostly, they buy what is available, not necessarily what they really would choose otherwise. I just thought the shirts were a very similar situation.

My intention would never be to get anyone in trouble. It just seems there is a need that isn't being met.
