will they seat us? here is my "issue"...I'm trying to get a time at the Garden Grill . there are 6 of us, but 2 are two year old twins, that are not on the dining plan. I can find a ressie for a table of 5 , and their booths appear to show pictures for 5 settings but I know for certain that the 6 of us will fit in one. I am not getting a table when I search for 6 of us.

will they get upset if I book a table for 5 and show up with 6? will they not seat us?

I was wondering the same thing. According to the people over at the WDWToday podcast, they will still seat you. I would take the risk.

They told me even my 3 month old counted bc they needed the number of people as per fire code maximums

I did this in September. We are a party of 5 but my youngest was 2. I got a table for 4 - the only way I could get a reservation there (garden grill) during our entire stay. When I checked in I was scolded by the hostess but they did seat us.

Book it and keep checking to see if you can upgrade. Good luck!! One of the kids favorite places!

awwww.....I don't want to get yelled at . I have to deal with 4 kids already, making Disney mad is not in the plan, lol.....

On a dining reservation every single person counts, regardless of their age or whether they will be paying for food. They may be able to seat you, but there is an outside chance they will not.

It is a hugely bad idea to under-count your family members in order to snag an ADR. You are taking the very real chance that they won't be able to accommodate you. And if that happens either one person will have to eat someplace else, or you will have to pay the no show fee for not using your ADR.

Another poster who works at WDW has stated that Disney has become wise to people under-counting in order to book ADRs. They will seat you if they can, but there are no guarantees. It is a huge risk.

I agree I wouldn't make the ADR for less people and take the chance of not getting in. As others have said, you may get seated or you may not; however, if it were me, I wouldn't want to take the chance of getting turned away. I'd keep checking every day multiple times a day as you never know when something might become available. Good luck.

This. They might seat you anyways but they're frankly not supposed to.

I wouldn't take the risk -- find another place to eat and you can always watch for cancellations. Or... book 2 sets of 3 (or whatever works for you) and just agree to sit separately if you have to. This is what we do for big dinners with our friends there - sometimes we sit together, and sometimes we can't -- there are only so many large tables.

How about trying for 7? That way they won't get mad at you for under booking.

And no, they don't get mad at you for overbooking (within reason) as I travel solo and often can't get a ressie for 1 and have to book for 2.
