Ok, so I am wondering about making ADR's for dinner. We will be going to Disney from 12/1 - 12/10 and we will be getting the Dining plan with our package. I already have ADR's made for the Garden grill and for The spirit of aloha dinner show. I was thinking I would at make the ADR's for all of our dinners, that way we know that we will get in, but my husband does not really want to be on that kind of a time schedule. So my question is, should I make ADR's or not? These are the places I was thinking about eating at:
Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, 1900 Park Fare. Not sure but possibly O'hana or Whispering Canyon.

Please let me know what you all think. I just want to be sure that we will be able to eat at these places.

Thanks so much
Joanne

I think if you want a choice in where you eat that you should make ADRs. also you might point out to your husband that people are NOT getting into restaurants unless they have ADRs. It may be different for your time frame, but with the dining plan people are making ADRs so far in advance that the restaurants in the parks are booked up long before you actually arrive. We tried to get an ADR two weeks before our trip for the MK and all of the sit down places were solidly booked. Could not GET an ADR.

I would go ahead and make the ADR's, it would be awful if you wanted to eat there but could not get in. If you decide you do not want to stick to them when you get there you can always phone up and cancel them.

Good advice! You will feel more at ease knowing you can get in somewhere but you won't be tied down. Just call and cancel if your plans change.

we're going nov 27-dec 3

i called at 90 day (like suggested on the DIS) and was still not able to get 2 of my choices - Liberty tree and Sci-fi.

I would definately suggest you get the ADRs so you at least have somewhere already lined up. If you dont think youll make it, just call and cancel. Especially with the Dining Plan.

Definitely ADR!!! We did so on our last trip for every dinner and most lunches. What we found when we got to the restuarants was people being told the wait was anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes.

And for every character dining, you should ADR, especially Crystal Palace, that was where the wait was 90 minutes without.

I would try to make your ADR - just fyi if you are going to Magic Kingdom on any of the MVMCP nights you most likely won't get your ADR. I tried and was told due to Christmas party event nights all restaurants are booked full. If they tell you its full, just wait a few days and try again - maybe there will be a cancelation.

I'm planning on over booking my ADR's. i know that we won't eat out 3 meals a day (plan on having frig in room with pb&j and lunchmeat, milk and cereal) I figure that we can call and cancel if we don't decide to eat out. I've seen posts where some people book 6 meals. That way if they park hop or end up in a different park, or the EMH hours change that they are still covered. I'm sure lots of people will say that's not fair, but it makes sense especially since Disney is so pokey with coming out with their park hours.

I agree with another poster.....Just go ahead and book your ADR's now, get later times if your hubby doesn't want to leave the parks too early. Find out the exact cancellation policy and just cancel them when you get to WDW. The restaurants you mentioned will fill up and you might not get in at all. Then that would be a disappointment.
Good Luck and Have Fun
HAPPY DINING !!! :wave2: :flower:

I made one adr for each day we are spending in disney. If I made a breakfast one for that day , I didnt do a dinner, and vice versa. This was we arent running around for our meals at certain times. Our last day we dont have to be at the airport til 3, so we have plans for prime time 50`s cafe for lunch. I just love that place!

Go ahead and make those ADRs. Once you make them, you have them. You can always cancel them later! DH doesn't even have to know, and I bet he will be thankful later when he is hungry, his feet hurt, and he just wants to sit down and eat!

I agree with scorpad99:

Book one ADR for each day. Two (or three!) sit down meals are just too heavy, and time-consuming as well!

That;s what I wound up doing... adrs for all dinners and scheduled about the same time. Hopefully it will work out that we'll finish dinner and head back to a park for bit more running around and see its nightly show. The last day we'll do the 'ohana CB since we leave late afternoon.

It feels so wierd having the meals in place so far in advance but last year we were struggling to find sit-downs and I don't want to go through that again. It was horrible, and even the first night we were there was my b-day and it still didn't help get us in somewhere. :-(
