Making ADRs then Changing Travel Dates

After reading about how many people are having trouble booking their ADR's 180 days out, I was wondering if people are playing games to get the reservations when they are staying less than 10 days at a Disney resort.
What I mean is if you make a room reservation for the 1st through the 10th of a month, when you know you will only be staying there the 4th through the 10th, so that you get to make the ADR's 3 days earlier to help get what you want for the 4th - 10th. Then a few weeks later, change your room reservations so that you are arriving on the 4th. Would you still get to keep your ADRs???

Is this acceptable? Does Disney do anything to prevent this from happening?

I know for a while Disney was trying to put a stop to this by not allowing changes to reservations. If you wanted to drop off dates, you had to completely rebook, subject to availability within your rate classification. That was a couple years ago though, so not sure if that's what they are still doing.

Disney has made it harder to drop days off your resort reservation to try to curb that kind of abuse (basically, it's like making a new reservation now). However, there is nothing to stop people from changing dates on a reservation besides availability. Yes, you keep your ADRs despite the changes. And people can also make a 10 day resort reservation, make all of their ADRs 180+10 days in advance, then completely cancel a few weeks later, still keeping all of their ADRs.

Nothing is going to stop some people...Ever seen the "throwaway room" thread?
