Making ADR's a pain.

We were at Disney this past Sept., and making ADR's wasn't like this then. I called today to make a simple breakfast res. at Kona, I told the CM we were staying at WL, she asked for our room res. number and I told her I didn't have it with me but that we booked through AAA. She tried finding it but couldn't and told me that she couldn't make the ADR without it since we have the dining plan. I asked her why and she said she has to link the ADR with our room res. or the dining plan won't be accepted when we go to eat. Okay, I'm not lying to you all, she really said that. I told her I never heard of that before, she said she could make the res. as is but since it won't be linked to our room res. we couldn't use the dining plan for the meal. I told her no thank you and hung up. I called back and explained to the next CM what had occurred and she agreed with the other CM, I couldn't believe she wouldn't take my ADR without my res. number. Has anyone else experienced this? It has never been this difficult to make ADR's before. I didn't have a res. number because I was at work and doing this on my lunch break. Disney's res. system is becoming more and more a nightmare.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder if I will have to have my friends' confirmation number when I call this Saturday to make all of our ADRs? We are all staying on-property and we are all on the DDP.

If I understand you correctly, I will need the other family's number, right?

I hope you were able to make all of your ADRs!

I don't think that is correct. As long as you are inside the 90 day window and not trying to book 90 + 10 you should not NEED your resort confirmation, dining plan or no dining plan, just to make a restaurant reservation. You can tell the server when you sit down that you will be using the dining plan to pay for the meal and it will work fine. That is all the dining plan is, an alternative method of payment.

I made two reservations this week and I was not even asked if I had a dining plan, much less for a resort confirmation number.

What do you suppose they'd do with people who make a restaurant reservation, THEN book a resort reservation with dining plan? Not let them use the dining plan when they show up? Ain't gonna happen.

As I understand it, the new ADR system requires that you give your reservation number...even if you don't have the dining plan. That being said, I don't know why they couldn't have looked up your reservation using your home phone number. Most computerized systems have more than one identifying criterion.

I am guessing by your ticker that you are not within the 90 day window for booking ADR's. Only certain restaurants do the 180 days...everyone else including Kona are 90 days.

With that being said, what the CM told you is wrong. I booked all my ADR's before we booked our package 2 weeks ago.

I called to book the Hoop-De-Doo last week and it took the CM 28 minutes to book it. And I was told 3 different prices and that Pioneer Hall was not at Ft Wilderness.

There are no 180 day dining reservations any longer.

Just Cirque du Soleil and Grand Gatherings reservations.

No you won't need the other reservation number if you guys are all eating together. I made ADRs for my entire party and we are in different rooms. I just finished making my July ADRs last Sunday for a split stay. They do indeed ask for your reservation number ONLY if you are doing the 90+10. Anyone can make an ADR 90 days from the day you want it and there are plenty of folks who live in Florida or stay offsite who call and make ADRs.

You guys are slick, but no this was not and ADR for our Sept. trip, it is for a quick weekend trip the end of May, so we are within 90 days. I told her we booked through AAA and was told over and over by many people that Disney doesn't have access to our res., she said she could access it but still she couldn't find it. I can't believe that they would deny you the use of your DP if the ADR isn't linked with your room res. Sorry, but this is a major pain in the butt.

I made some reservations today without a reservation number.. She asked BUT I told her I don't know where we are staying yet.. I was only to make those that were 90 days though.

This is just crazy. I can't believe they did this. I called today to make an ADR for May 15th at WCC and I called and told them I needed to make an ADR and the CM never asked me for a reservation number. Some of us are on the DDP and some will be using the TiW. How frustrating for you.

I have a feeling that some of the "CM's" who take Dining calls are still outsourced.

I don't use the dining plan but just to keep from having to read them a bunch of numbers every time I am going to tell them I am not staying onsite from now on.

I was thinking of doing the same thing.

How hard is it to just have your reservation # when you call to make a dining reservation? It is obviously something the CM's have been told they need to have if guests want to make a dine res using the dine plan.....why make it the CM's problem? It is upper management that makes the rules not each CM that answers the phone. I guess not understanding HOW dine CM's are paid makes a difference as well!! Everytime guests call to check CRT for the whole month of June and there is nothing available the CM is losing money!!

If you call Pizza Hut do you give them a hard time when they ask for your phone number AND ask you to verify your address? Online booking will roll out soon and you won't have to call anymore!!!!

Okay, I guess you are not familiar with the term "CUSTOMER SERVICE, so now it's imperative to carry my res. number with me 24 hours a day? How the CM gets paid is not my problem, do you think my customers care how much I make at my job? No they want good service for doing business with us. I can't even begin to express what an ignorant response you've made, I am the paying customer and all I wanted to do was make a simple breakfast reservation, SHE became confrontational with me.

You can't tell me that if someone shows up at a restaurant with a res. that hasn't been linked to their room res. they won't be able to use the DP? As stated before I was doing this on my lunch break at work, again, why do I need to have my res. number with me at all times. She insisted she could find it by name and zip code but she couldn't, again, no customer service, she literally argued with me about making a simple reservation for breakfast.

I've worked at two major ski resort hotels in Colorado and Idaho, and three casino hotels in Atlantic City, I know very well what true customer service is, and it is nearly extinct in the U.S. From this point forward I too will tell the CM we are staying off property to avoid this hassle, and believe me they will accept the dining plan regardless of what my res. says.

When I made our reservation for our August trip the Cm said he thought online booking owuld be up before my ADR 90 days came up. Hopefully that will solve some of this, although their servers are not big enough for what they do now and often take forever to get a quote or confirm something or "are not available at his time"

Actually, if they weren't delivering it to me and didn't need my address then I really wouldn't want to give it.

It is a pain, IMO, to give the hundred little bits of information to disney dining every single time I call. If I called only once then it would be different, but I don't usually figure out all my ADRs and make one call. I call for the ones I think will sell out first, then figure the other ones in one at a time as my plans progress. And I almost never have my reservation number on hand, it's not something I carry around with me.

The 'problem' is that they really don't need it. If you're staying offsite you can make ADRs and obviously don't have a reservation number to give. If they don't need that from anyone staying offsite then they don't need it from me either. If it truly was tied to the DDP -- and I don't see how it ever could be because of all those who book a basic package or room only and then upgrade to DDP later on -- it would be different, but it's not. They just want to track my information in as many ways as possible. I understand why they track things like that, just don't care to participate if I don't have to, at least not all the time. ;)

IMACM, if you are truly a CM at Disney, based upon your response, I can see why customer service has gone down hill at an alarming rate.

please keep your responses away from the rude side of the fence please :)

my personal opinion is that I do not have my reservation number anywhere near me when i call. I am usually at work or on the commuter bus on the way home.

Seems like quite a few kinks still in the new system

to the OP - sorry you had such a frustrating experience. I am with Nala, if there is that much fuss about having a ressie number, then i am staying off property. :thumbsup2
