Making ADR Thread - hold times, IT vents, and general whine!

Just called this morning and got all the reservations we wanted. :) I was only on hold for about 30 seconds. I was so nervous, but everything worked out fine. We chose the following restaurants.

Tony's - 5:20
Sci-Fi Diner - 11:20
Raglan Road - 6pm
Planet Hollywood - 6pm
House of Blues - 6pm
Boma - 7:30

I have to call back for the days after our cruise. Hopefully, we have the same experience as this morning!

Yea for both of you two posters, :cheer2: Hopefully things are getting better. I wonder if some days are better to call than others that would be an interesting survey. :surfweb:

I called last night to make ADRs and after a learning curve on my part and seemingly the CM too I got some ADRs. The biggest difference I see is you better have you resort reservation number handy when you call and instead of them telling you all openings for a particular location you have to give them a timeframe and they don't seem apt too using a wide-range of time. Then I give a timeframe and it pulls up a half-hour before my timeframe.

I also know that Le Cellier is difficult to get ressies for but were 80 days out. and I could not get anything for dinner.

Sorry if this turned into more of a rant, but I had to grab a Corona when I got off the 45 minute phone call. ;) I will say that the CM was very patient and helpful as we dealt with the new ADR system.

I don't have much ADR Disney experience...but I have NEVER called a restaurant for a reservation and not had to give a preferred time frame. :confused3

Also, you said you were 80 days out...many people call at 90 days out (plus the length of their vacation up to 10 days), so it would be hard to get the most popular restaurant

I was a little worried about making adrs, after hearing everyone's wait times. I only wanted one adr for CP, and from when I dialed until I hung up was 5 minutes, 39 seconds!! (At 9:35 CST) I was very happy!!

I was very frustrated this time I made my ADR's. I did call 90 days out and it was hard to get anything. I had to switch around days we would be in the parks to get LeCellier and ended up with a 4:45 time, so not ideal. I also could not get Chef Mickey's, but I guess they were booking it further out which I didn't know. It was a very frustrating process and I was on the phone for 2 hours.

I saw an explanation on here somewhere in the last two weeks that said when you give a time frame on the new system, it gives the CM that time & anything in the 30 minutes before that time. It does not show all available times at that restaurant that night. So if you say 7:00 P.M., it will show anything available between 6:30 & 7:00 P.M.

The other thing the system does is "remembers" details about other reservations and makes "suggestions" based on those preference. When I called back to change a Friday reservation for late May, I told the CM we had a ressie at The Wave, but wanted to try for the new AKL place that opens in May. She says "o.k., you're wanting a reservation around 5 or 5:30, right? Which is when the majority of our ADRs are booked for--she said the system keeps track of people's preferences.

It is frustrating to not get your choices, though. LeCellier is extra difficult because of it's popularity and how small it is...it fills fast.

I tried to make my ADRs last night and was on hold for over thirty minutes... had to hang up to put DS to bed. Anyone know the BEST time of day to call?

I am not sure what is going on with Sci-fi. We were able to get it for lunch on June 10th. I was worried because we only plan on being in that park for 1 day.

30 mn is nothing! :) At 7a I was on hold for 45 minutes and the entire call was just about an hour. I think after about 9a, you'll have much more luck getting through. I've called once at lunch here at work and waited maybe 5 mn. Then I called once at 9:30p-ish and again, maybe 10 mn wait.

I've had the best luck mid-week, calling in the 1-3:00 p.m. (EST) range -- after people's lunch hour but before home-from-work-or-school time.

The system has a lot of issues and also if the cm isn't very familiar with it they don't know how to look up two tables. We had one night where 9 of us are eating together and I know from past experiences we have to get two tables to get our perferred time. After 15 minutes of them trying they finally got a supervisor to help and were able to get the preferred time at two tables. Before that it kept saying no availability.

The other issue I had, when looking for 4 people, were the time availability. I asked for a time from 5-6pm and it kept saying no availability. She expanded the search to include 5-7pm and 5:20pm came up. Why it didn't come when looking at 5-6pm I have no idea. This happend on 3 of 7 ADR's I had to make

It is snowing here in the deep south and churchs are closing so no where to go. You know us in Alabama don't get snow often so it just become a day to stay in. All I want is 1 adr for CP, DD will turn 5 on 5/31 and she wants to eat with Pooh. This is our first trip to WDW and I didn't know that there is so much to getting 1 adr. We are on the QSDP the rest of trip so this is it unless t-rex takes them and the cm's i've talked to said no the don't it is walk up only. When will the hold ever end?????:scared1:

Haley/Hayden Mom - I heard T-Rex does take reservations, but you must call them directly. HTH!!
Have a great trip!!

Tried again this am for Sci-Fi for our 10 day period with no luck. I can't figure out if it is seriously that popular now or if they just aren't releasing the entire restaurant for ADRs. I just find it hard to believe that it is completely booked for 10 straight days, lol.

Called this am for my ADR's...got Sci Fi for 6/17 but had to take 8:05 pm ressie...a little late, but at least we get to eat there...my CM mentioned to me and (reminded me) that this was an EMH night at DHS so I thought, Okay that would work...we have never been there. ..so really going for the atmosphere really...

Well I dialed in at 7:00 am sharp today and really I didn't have to wait that long I called in the morning to get LeCellier and the Fantasmic! MM package. LeCelier was booked up completely except for one 9;10 openning. That is way too late for a 5 year old if we want to actually enjoy dinner. And that was for both of your Epcot days spread out during our 7 day stay. Ugh!

I was lucky enough to get a lunch on my second day at 2:45 pm. So at least I got one but really wanted dinner.

The really bad news was around the Fantasmic Package. It was totally booked on the one day we can go. All three resturants were booked it is pretty frustrating when you call your very first day at 7:00 am be one of the first people to get helped (I only waited about 5 mins) and still be locked out. So looks like no Fantasmic for us. So I switched my HS day with my AK day so that I could avoid the Fantasmic! day crowds in the park during the day. Guess we'll have to go back again.

I also got Boma at that time there was no issues got 5:00 pm which is perfect for us since we usually don't last until closing at AK.

Then I hung up to drive my little one to preschool. I was on the phone less than 10 mins.

Ok now I call back at 8:30. My wait time was not that bad maybe 10 mins and I booked the rest of my ADR's. I am so glad I had booked CRT at 180 days it is a must do for my little one she wants to eat in the castle again it was her favorite from our last trip. I tried to book 1900 park fare for one day and they only had very late times. So I had to move around a few ADR's and got it at 5:50 on our LAST park day of our trip. I want to order the slippers for her and her sister! It will be a great way to end the trip. So that one was hard to get as well. Is this one always so hard to get at 180 days? We have never been there before.

The rest were pretty uneventful and I got what I wanted pretty much when I wanted.

Tony's(Dinner), Crystal Palace (breakfast), Ohana (breakfast), 50 Prime Time (Dinner), Boma (Dinner), Tutto Italia (dinner).

I am glad I got to book Chef Mickeys and CRT 180 days ago!

Anyhow there was disappointment and I hated the fact that I had to tell the CM all kinds of info and then spell it if they pull up the my ressie they should already have it and just need to verify it. Not sure if the system does it or not. But we got through it the CM's were all very nice and helpful.

Good luck to everyone out there making their ADR's!

it is frustrating to call on the 90 day mark and feel like you have to fight for every reservation on your 10 day vacation.

my big gripes:

Sci Fi
Fantasmic Dinner Packages
Chefs France

didn't matter which day...all booked for 4 people...right!

I just scored a Sci-Fi lunch but I had to move it to day 9 of our 10-day trip to get it (6/24). The CM seemed as genuinely surprised and pleased as me to be able to book it. Something is up because the CM said she had been getting tons of calls from people seeking Sci-Fi. Weird...

For those onsite, try moving the tough ADRs to the end of your vacation rather than the beginning.

Good luck to all!
