Making a ressie with points for a friend?

We are making a ressie for a friend using our points. We have never done this before. How does it work? Do we just call MS make the resservation and put our friends' names on the ressie? Will they have any trouble at check in since no DVC members will be present?

Just make the reservation for them, but you will need the names, address and phone numbers of the entire family who will be staying. You can even have the confirmation sent to their email. They will just check in like normal when they arrive, or they can do it online just like we can.

Thanks! If they check in on-line do they have to access our account to do that?

Also, can they call back later and add the dining plan with their CC or will we have the make the call at a later date for them (they are not ready to pay for that yet).

They can check in right through the regular Disney site...no need to use your account. YOU will have to be the one to call and add DDP for them if they want that.

I did this for a friend recently also. The CM told me to add the dining plan, i could put it on my credit card since it has to be paid at the time it is added, or you can do a three way call, or you can have their credit card number. But you have to be the one to add it. I called and added it and they have already given me the payment for it. I'm really excited that they will be able to stay in a nice two bedroom at OKW instead of two rooms at CS

Isn't that nice to be able to share? We have friends who insist on cramming their family of 5 into a Value room (can you even DO that???) and we've gotten in the habit of offering them points. They REALLY appreciate the space.

We're trying to lure them to the dark side and buy in but so far, no go. I mean, why bother when they can use our points???
