Making a request for Cabins?

We're approaching our day to do on-line check in for our April stay at Fort Wilderness. Our group will consist of me, DD16, my sister, her husband, and their children (girl 6yo; boy 8yo). (We know it's kind of tight, but we're prepared for that.) I have reserved a golf cart for our stay. We'll be there 5 nights.

We've never stayed at FW. I've looked at the map over and over and I don't see an obvious advantage to any of the Cabin areas. Am I completely missing something? Do you FW pros have a suggestion for a particular area to request or should we just let the Cabin assignment fall where it falls?

I know that the on-line check in will not have an option to enter any area requests -- not sure what the choices will be for a Cabin since "ground floor" obviously doesn't need to be an option. I'll have to call for this kind of request, but I'm thinking maybe we don't need a request like this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My thoughts are since you have a golf cart you should be good to go anywhere you stay... Will one cart hold your whole crew or did you get mroe then one cart. Our cart fit 5 of us. We drove the golf cart to the bus area or boat dock as opposed to walking to the top of each loop and taking the FW inner bus - it was faster. So that would be the only request if you plan to walk to the shelter at the top of each loop to take transportation then you might want to request a cabin close to the front of each loop.

That would be it!

2100 and 2200 are the loops closest to the Meadow TP in case members of your group walk over there or to the main pool. But other than that, you might request whatever loop you're in to be near a bus stop unless you plan to take the golf cart to the bus station up front or the marina in the back.

I agree, with a golf cart any loop is fine. :thumbsup2

One practical suggestion, with 6 people and one bathroom it may be helpful to be near one of the comfort stations or pool areas to have easy access to another restroom.

On our last trip we requested a loop near the quiet pool. It was convenient to be near the pool, the extra restroom and the laundry facilities. There have been other posters on the boards who stay in one of the cabin loops that are right next to a camping loop so they can use the comfort stations in the camping loops that provide showers as well. The extra showers can be extremely helpful when you're trying to make rope drop!

Have a great time! You will love Ft. Wilderness! Make sure to plan some time just to hang out at the resort.

The important thing is that you will have a golf buggy so you can easily get to the good fishing areas, :thumbsup2

I actually thought about that. DD16 and I are early risers and will consistently make RD. My sister and her family -- not so much. Of course, they'll be dealing with a different time zone than at home, but we still razz them. I think my nephew will get up and go with us, but he'll probably bathe at night (if at all - he'll be 8 and believes that swimming is just as useful as a bath).

We've got the buggy, so will be all set to do everything. DD16 likes fishin' with DH; not my thing.

I put in a request for loop 2500. Can't wait to get there.

We are back. Thanks for your help, it made things easier for us. We requested loop 2500 and were assigned Cabin 2517. We checked in around 9:30 a.m. last Tuesday and it was ready for us at that time. The location was very convenient to the quiet pool -- which we ended up using the most (only went to the themed pool once). It was also convenient to a bus stop. We rented a cart, but with 6 of us doing different things, there were times when we needed both the bus and the cart.

Sandi,

Glad it worked out for you. We have used the cabin pool too for our overflow bathroom prep each day when we had several adults sharing one cabin.
