Might seem like a silly question with all of the other techniques I am learning- I can't figure out where the frames are in PS CS3 - OR how to make one.... I have looked everywhere! Can anyone help?

All I've been able to figure out are basic rectangle, circle, or oval borders in CS3.

1. Create a new, blank layer.
2. Use the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" to the left, looks like a rectangle made of dashed lines, to create a rectangle. (You can right click on this tool to change it to an "elliptical marquee tool" to do ovals and circles.)
3. Once you've created the shape you want (if I mess up, I tend to just CTRL Z and start over), go to Edit --> Stroke to create a border.
4. You can choose the color and size from there.
5. You can do Edit--> Fill to fill in the shape.
6. Just like with text and images, you can change the effects on your border.

Make sure you are making your border on a NEW layer, or the effects won't work correctly!

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

Again not sure about CS3 but on PSE there are a bunch of preset shapes for frames and ALOT more. I know PS can handle shapes as all the ones I've downloaded were for PS but also work in PSE. The preset shapes are what I used for the frame on the Lego Dollars I did both the square outer one and the oval in the center.

Here's a link to some frames shapes on Adobe.com

This link takes you to a page where you can download multiple frame shapes, including an oval one. Scroll down to see more frame shape files.

After doing a search here's some interesting looking tutorials.

Thx guys-
Dom I have a question about your oval in the center- Once you got the oval how did you getthe decorative flair on the top??
& Am I going to have to basically find frames and then open as a new image in my PS and from there edit it the way I want... color, bevel, shadow, etc
I have no idea what plug ins or "tubes" are for but everything I see stating they are "plug ins"- it says to download and I am just not comfortable with downloading something that I have no idea what it is- I mean no pic or such and not sure what all is in the file- and then if I did download it- how would I use it??

The oval, with the decorative flair, is one of the basic shapes that comes with PSE 6.0. If you download either the Abode Exchange frames or the ones on About.com (think the link is bad above) there are instructions on how and where to put the file(s). These instructions are from About.com for Photoshop X users.

Place the *.csh files into:
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop X\Presets\Custom Shapes where X is the version number for your version of Photoshop.

To load a file, go to the Styles palette, then click the small arrow in the top right corner and choose one of the layer style collections from the menu.

I've downloaded some of these for PSE and they work fine. If you have PS open when you download these you'll have to close it and reopen it before you'll be able to use them.

Thx!! I am going to be busy tonight! LOL Wow! I also have to do some baking today- shopping, get my hair done... so past due- and get things ready for work tomorrow- Maybe be up all night Wednesday once I am off work, cooking- and then Thursday... what is that- Oh Yeah! Thanksgiving!!! :scared1: I am so addicted to this I have been spending, literally, every waking moment that I home studying, the abilities, features, and such- So... yes, tonight I will check out how this works and then we'll see when I get to actually get anything else done-
Thx so much for the tips on how to use these-
