I'm making my sister a book for her 45th birthday with all our old photos (not that many really, but it's all we have since both our parents and all our aunts and uncles have passed.) I am literally spending $$$$$ on this book and thought that maybe I would get each page copied and and make a copy for me. None of the pictures are the originals, my husband scanned them all in to the computer and had to fix some of them because they were all in shoe boxes. Most have no dates or any info with them so I havn't done much journaling but lots of time has gone into designing each page. I would like to be able to also have the memories and was wondering has anyone gone to a print/copy shop and had their album copied. Is this even possible and how about the price (I know it would be different but I was wondering about what it would cost).
THANKS

the album is 12 X 12 and will probably have around 20 pages.

What size are your pages?? (I'm interested in the responses as well, for my 12x12 Girl Scout album that I've been working on.)

I don't have any answers but I think this is an excellent idea!

I don't have any answer on price, but I do know that color copying 12x12 can be kind of expensive. What about scanning the pages instead. It'll take a couple passes and you'd have to "stitch" the scans to get the full page, but then you'll have the whole album on your computer. And you can print it out for yourself, in a smaller/cheaper size even.

Yes, this is possible. There are 2 ways you can do this. If you haven't started yet, consider doing it digitally. From re-reading your post, you seemed to have started. So that takes me to option 2. Scan the pages and then have them bound into a book digitally. Heritage Makers makes this easy. There are two sizes you could do - 12x12 or 8x8. Scan the 12x12 pages and if you choose the 8x8, the shape will be the same, you'd just have it in a smaller spot. No biggy.

Not sure where you are at. There may be places near you that have 12x12 scanning services and if so, best option. But they are normally pretty hard to find so the next best option is to scan it on your home scanner (which you have) and then use an autostitch program (free to download for a 30 day trial) and stitch the pages together. It is really a simple process. Once you scan and stitch, the pages are saved as jpegs and then you upload them.

PM me if you want more direction on this.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I don't want to save them on the computer, I want to make another book. Our printer prints the standard 8 1/2 by 11 and my pages are 12 X 12 so I don't think that will work. I'll have to try to find a print shop I guess.

I had one time where I wanted a duplicate book. I bought and made 2 of everything and made the pages at the same time.

You wouldn't have to save them on your computer through Heritage Makers. If you have them scanned and then saved to a disc, then you'd just upload them to the HM account, drag into book, and publish.

One more thought, some sign shops have large format scanners that you can scan the pages. The problem with most scanners is that they aren't large enough to fit the entire page on the bed of the scanner. Places like Kinkos can copy them but they can't scan them, there is a difference.

I only want them copied to paper pages I can put into another book. I don't really do anything with the computer and would like to have a copy that I can take around with me. I don't really have a lot of time (needs to be done for May 19) so doing 2 albums is out of the question and also pretty expensive. Thanks for all the good ideas!!!!!!!

You may be able to find a better option, but from what I can tell you'll probably have to fork over some $$, especially if you're insistant that your copy also be 12x12.

I just called Staples to see how much they charge for a 12x12 color copy. It's a whopping $4.20 per page AND the image(s) have to be on a disk so you'd have to scan them anyway. They don't have a large format scanner but do have a large format printer. Their copiers only work up to 8.5" wide. And the girl I talked to said that's the norm for all Staples.

Good luck getting the album done and getting that copy for yourself.

Someone posted this website once before. I have never personally used them but I had a friend to contact them and she plans on trying them. Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
