I'd like to burn a CD for my parents for christmas. I am looking for suggestions of songs that are meaningful towards both parents or mom or dad separately. Sappy, fun, anything.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

OK.. before I make suggestions......are they young parents???? that makes a difference, do you want Christmas songs or songs from when they met?? do you know what their song is.. My daughters know our song, which is Stevie Wonder's "For Once in my Life," great song.

They're in their early 60's. Not really looking for Christmas songs....more songs that would have wording that is special to a relationship with a child and her mother or father or both. It doesn't have to be specific to that, bwould be great if it could also apply. does that make any sense??

Wind Beneath My Wings, Bette Midler
Uforgettable, Natalie and Nat King Cole
What a Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong
Through The Years, Kenny Rogers
Have I Told You LAtely, Rod Stewart
Because You Loved Me, Celine Dion
Butterfly Kisses, Bob Carlisle
How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You, James Taylor
Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) Billy Joel
Glory Of Love, Peter Cetera
Have To SAy I Love You in a Song, Jim Croce
In My Life, The Beatles
You're The Inspiration, Chicago

sorry duplicate - gotta change these contacts!

These are great suggestions. I was thinking of a song by Anne Murray, but I cannot think of the name of it.. I have been searching for it...all I can think of is "Can I have this dance for the rest of my life??" How about doing some research on Nat King Cole and putting one or two of his hits or even Judy Garland songs, Patti Page songs are always nice. Or an Elvis song or two... I am thinking more of their era than anything else.

Maybe look at some soundtracks from their favorite movies and see if there are songs from them that you can include on a cd for your parents.. how about Daddy's Little girl...that is always a nice one. I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus....

thanks so much guys...these are GREAT suggestions!!!!

Unchained Melody
Fly Me To the Moon
Sunrise, Sunset
You'll Be In My Heart

Anne

This old House by Loretta Lynn.
The World at Large by Modest Mouse (Probably a stretch).

Find out what was their favorite songs while they were dating, or the song they danced to on their wedding. I did that for my parents and they loved it. Also, Louie Armstrong is always nice. "What a wonderful world" or "A kiss to build a dream on" (I think that's what it's called).

My dad likes Michael Mcdonald. Doobie Brothers guy.

I will listen to Michael Mcdonald only because of my dad.

Oh my. This brings back memories of trying to find a song for the dance with my Dad at my wedding. It was such torture listening to all the possibilities- Daddy's Little Girl, I Am Your Child by Barry Manilow, some song from a mother to her son by a lady who can't sing...maybe I don't have the right attitude for this. I can tell you that DH went with What A Wonderful World for his mom/son dance and she LOVED it. Good luck!

Here are some suggestions:

House at Pooh Corner - Kenny loggins
Danny's Song - I'm not sure
Glory of Love - Chicago
You're the Inspiration - Chicago
When you say nothing at all - Ronan keeting
At The Beginning Richard Marx and Donna Lewis

Maybe some Brian McKnight or Phil Collins....ok my list could go on and on so I'm gonna stop here unless I think of something else really good.

Everyday - Buddy Holly
Unforgettable - Natalie and Nat King Cole
My Girl - The Temptations

So, I like oldies. Murder me.

Are you Irish?

Oh Danny Boy, or When Irish Eyes are Smiling.
