DS is turning 1 very soon :sad1: My baby is growing up way too fast! My SIL is helping me with a slide show from some (ok, 235) pictures I have taken over his first year and I need more song choices. Apparently, it is 20 minutes worth of pictures. So far I only can think of "I Am Your Child" by Barry Manilow for the very early ones and "Baby Baby" by Amy Grant for the more recent ones.

Can anyone think of any cute songs to put on it? Downloaded legally, of course!

For the first pictures how about "The First Time (ever I saw your face)". I forget who did it originally. Carly Simon did a song my mom and brother danced to at his wedding. I think it was, "Love of My Life" or something like it. I love the idea! I am planning to do dvd's like this for my girls. I plan to use "Sweet Caroline" for Caroline (of course) and Jimmy Buffett's "Little Miss Magic" for Dierdre. Have fun!!!

I love the songs "Let them be little" by Billy Dean and "The things we've handed down" by Marc Cohn. I just used them in the moving up ceremony for my preschoolers.

"Close to You" by the Carpenters

Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.

On the day that you were born
The angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
Just like me (Just like me)
They long to be
Close to you.

Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Wahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Hahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.
Lahhhhhhhhhhh, close to you.

How did you know he had blonde hair and blue eyes? That song is nice- I need a few more because there are so many pix on that cd. Thanks so much for helping- keep them coming!

Baby Mine from Dumbo is a nice slow song.

Does your son have a favorite song that needs to be sung all the time? Something like Wheels on the Bus might not fit in with the pictures, but if you keep the cd, it might be a nice way to help your DS remember what his favorite song was when he was 6 mos old

Baby Mine is definitely on the list- what a great idea! Itsy Bitsy Spider is a favorite of his so far. Thanks so much!

A friend made my DD a cd and my favorite song on it is

Return to Pooh corner

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon
But I've wandered much further today than I should
And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood
So help me if you can
I've got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh
Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose
He came to me asking help and advice
And from here no one knows where he goes
So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he's there
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear
It's hard to explain how a few precious things
Seem to follow throughout all our lives
After all's said and done I was watching my son
Sleeping there with my bear by his side
So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going
I swear that old bear whispered "Boy, welcome home"
Believe me if you can
I've finally come back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
What do you know
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
Back to the ways of Christopher Robin
Back to the days of Pooh
- Kenny Loggins

There's a Bob Dylan song that I love. My friend did the lyrics in calligraphy and had it framed for my daughter (who is now 16 years old) when she was born.

Forever Young
May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

How about He's My Son by Mark Schultz?

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understnad
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

CHORUS:
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

CHORUS

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son

We did one of these and used "Let Them Be Little" by Lonestar I think ....and "Blessed" by Martina McBride.

Ok this is completely OT but I had to share. When I was in labor w/DD2, I was induced in the evening and spent the night in the labor room. DH and I had a tough time sleeping b/c the poor woman in the next room
IS SCREAMING!!!!! her head off every 15 min or so...

:scared1: FOR 3 HOURS STRAIGHT...

I felt really bad for her but I needed my sleep since I knew I would be delivering DD in the am. So about 4 am, she finally stops, we hear the baby in the prep room between the rooms and it quites down. Finally... Then...

IT STARTED....

THE SONG...

We were so tired it seemes hysterical at 4:30 am! Now whenever we hear the song, we just crack up laughing.

Have you considered
You are My Sunshine
Sweet Child of Mine
Because you Loved Me

What about these ...

I Will Always Love You
Still the One
Hero
Greatest Love of All
Sunshine on My Shoulders
Have I Told You Lately that I Love You
Glory of Love
Memories
Wind Beneath My Wings
The Rose

Or these ...

You Are the Sunshine of My Life
Wonderful World
You Decorated My Life
You're the Inspiration
You're My Best Friend

Maybe you can google your sons names and find songs with his name in them (Ex: Danny Boy).

Or if it is a keepsake for your son, maybe the #1 song the week he was born.

"The First Time ... Saw your Face" mentioned earlier was sung by Roberta Flack.

Got to have some some stuff by the Wiggles. Everybody clap....clap clap clap....everybody sing....la la la la la .

Songs from Pooh Corner by Kenny Logigns.

For the Christmas portion of your slide show, how about "Let There be Peace on Earth" by Vince Gill (his young daughter sings a verse)

Wow- yesterday's replies were awesome! I love the Pooh Corner song too. Here is my list-

#1- B.C. (pictures before Christopher) In My Life- Beatles
#2- (hospital pix) I Am Your Child-Barry Manilow
#3- (first few weeks home through beginning of Disney trip) Baby Mine (from Disney's Dumbo soundtrack)
#4- (Disney trip through Halloween)- Pooh Corner (Kenny Loggins)
#5- (Halloween through winter) I Hope You Dance (Lee Ann Womack)
#6- (Spring-summer) Baby Baby (Amy Grant)

I wanted to end the CD with a peppy song and Amy Grant wrote that for her baby daughter when she was 6 weeks old.

Those are all great songs- the Let Them Be Little song makes me sad that he is not so little anymore. I won't be able to watch the show during his party, I'd need 3 boxes of tissues!

Thanks for all of your help! :sunny:
