Making a 2009 reservation?

I was hoping to start planning our Jan. 2009 vacation but on the Disney website it says you can only book/get quotes right now for check-in up to Dec 31 2008. At what point will I be able to price and book for Jan. 2009?

You can make a room only reservation for 2009 now. But to do it you need to call Disney, can't do it via the web site. You will pay a one night deposit based on the current rate, not the 2009 rates, since those aren't out yet. Then sometime in the summer the real rates and packages will be released. At that time you can change to a package if interested.

They generally release the prices for the next year in August. So you should be able to book online once those prices are available. I think it was August 5th this year.

I recently booked for May 2009 and you do NOT pay the one night deposit based on current rates. That's what I thought, but it wasn't the case. I had to pay a one night deposit based on an unguaranteed rate... basically what they think the 2009 rate will be. The guy told me it could be more or it could be less, probably less.

Just wanted to let you know so you're prepared.

This is great to know as we are planning at least one trip in dec of 09, but hopefully a girls only trip in may for marathon.
