Makeup at Disney World

I wear makeup everyday. I am not all "made up", but I definitely need something around my eyes so that I don't look all pale and tired. I like to wear makeup when I go to Disney World because I want to look nice for the pictures. Does anyone have any good advice on good "park friendly" makeup or makeup that doesn't fade away throughout the day?

I use a Clinique foundation, liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara. Clinique's foundation is the only kind that seems to work with my skin and not melt away in the heat. Liquid eyeliner stays put longer than traditional pencil types in my experience, so even in the hottest day I still look somewhat presentable.

I try to avoid using eye shadow and blush though. It never lasts long enough! Plus, with the heat, your cheeks will be flushed anyway! ;)

I like using MAC studio fix fluid. it stays on in the summer heat and has spf 15.
i would suggest going with a better brand (MAC, Nars, Lancome, as opposed to Cover Girl) if you want real full day wear.

I get so melty when I'm at WDW that I stick to waterproof mascara and my favorite Neutrogena Lip Sheers with SPF 20 during the day. When I head out again for dinner after hopefully getting a chance to freshen up at the resort, I freshen my shiny face and add some eye liner and shadow.

:sunny:

I use pur minerals and have some travel size ones that I put in my purse.

If we don't end up going to the room for a mid day break, I normally have a make up remover wipe and take off ALL of my makeup and reapply half way through the day. It makes me feel a LOT better.

MAkeup is too much work. I wear moisturizer with SPF, lipstick or chapstick with an SPF and eye liner. That is all. Pretty much anything else will melt away. Always remember that you are doing it for you, cause nobody else will be looking at you at all.

Yes, I know I am going to have a good time and enjoy myself. I just like to get home and see my photopass pictures and be happy with how I look in them too. That is why I am in search of the most comfortable and practical ways to feel good about myself while I am there. Thanks for all the suggestions ladies!

Both of my sisters swear by bare minerals though. Neither would be caught dead outside of their homes (even running to the mail box, at the gym or in unGodly heat at WDW) without full on "Sex In The City" makeup. They work in pharmaceutical sales and are outside a lot, so I guess it works. My sister bought me the starter kit for Christmas two years ago and I tried it but couldn't stand the way the makeup felt going on and the Mineral veil stuff made my face burn. You may want to give it a try and see if it works for you.

lancolme absolu foundation comes in a jar has some hefty spf in it great coverage and I prefer this over sunblock cuz it doesnt burn my eyes. Its pricey but well worth it!

I always wear makeup to WDW, think of all those great pics, I know i want to look good in them. Sure some may get sweat away but you can always toss a compact in your bag with some lipgloss nad touch up. I use Bare Minerals and it's awesome. Use the primer on your face then do the mineral veil first do the base and blush then more mineral viel. It helps "SET" the makeup so it lasts longer and it's super light, you don't feel like you are even wearing anything.
good luck and have fun.

Mary Kay creme to powder foundation with the blush, mascara, eyeliner, etc (I take about a minute or two to put it on- I don't wear much). We go in September when it's 90+ out and I don't have a problem.

My mom however wears cover girl and starts melting about 30 minutes in :rotfl:

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is the best long lasting foundation on the market IMHO, and I worked as a makeup artist for years. It's worth every penny! Good luck!

Instead of foundation - try a tinted moisturizer. I have used the Neutrogena tinted moisturizer with SPF and I know Mary Kay also has a tinted moisturizer with SPF also. It combines 3 steps in one - you get your moisturizer, a little bit of color to even out your skin tone and sunscreen! I love it and it feels nice and light when it is on my skin. Haven't actually used it while touring Disney - as my trip in June will be my first trip in almost 20 years (the only other time I've been to Disney is when I was in high school). I have a feeling we will be going back to the resort most afternoons to cool off and rest - so I will be able to "freshen" up at that time.

seriously..go to makeupalley.com . The people on those boards are PHENOMENAL about makeup and application.I learned everything I know from there, and I wear makeup everyday in the parks, don't look like a sweaty mess and not overdone at all

I was there this past February, and since it was pretty chilly I didn't really have the problem of the Florida heat melting off my make-up.
I used:
concealer for any blemishes/discolorations
cream eyeshadow for a pop of color
gel eyeliner (pencil seems to wear off to quickly for me) to define my eyes
eyelash curler/mascara to open my eyes

this simple routine kept me looking fresh and put together all day! :)

OP, I see from your sig that you are going in November. Heat shouldn't be a big factor for you, so I wouldn't worry too much about what makeup to wear- just what you normally wear will do, with a few modifications.

The only different things I do when at WDW during not-so-hot months are:
-Waterproof mascara (and liner, if you wear it)!! Between all the attractions that mist, splash, or drench you, the tear-jerking fireworks and shows, and the occasional sweaty moments, you really need mascara that will stay put.
-SPF!! I normally wear a light SPF makeup, but I am not out in the sun all day like I am when we visit WDW. For trips, I use a higher SPF foundation and reapply a couple times a day.

Have a great time- we will be at WDW in November, too!! :wizard:

I am totally low maintenance with my make up day to day, and I also can't stand liquid makeup, as it runs off my face even when it's not hot and humid out! I use the Bare Minerals foundation - it covers and evens my skin tone, takes away the shiny spots, and stays put! Plus, a little bit goes a long way so even though it may be a little more expensive, it lasts forever. They also have the brushes with the foundation in the handle you can carry in your purse if you need to touch up during the day. I use a bit of blush at home, but I may skip it at WDW this time because it's going to be sunny and warm this time :cool1:!

But I would definitely recommend a chapstick or something with sunscreen for your lips even if you don't normally wear it - sunburned lips are no fun.

Good luck,

Bree

Maybelline Super Stay foundation
Waterproof liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara (I use Avon ones)

Simple, but effective! :thumbsup2

Yep, that too! The Bare Minerals foundation has a light SPF also, but I put it on over a moisturizer with a higher SPF just in case.

Hi! I don't wear much make-up since most days the only place I get to is the gym. When I wear make-up to go out, I wear Bare Minerals. I really like it. Those non make-up days, I just bought that Jergens SPF 20 facial moisturizer that gives you a fake tan. It's been about four days and so far I have not broken out or turned splotchy.
