Make Your Own Motivator

DISsers will probably get a chuckle out of something I saw about this site recently.

I work as a trainer for staff in a large high school and in our private e-mail conference for teacher trainers in our system someone posted how they had found this wonderful site (http://despair.com/viewall.html) that sold great motivational posters. Now, literally every school in our huge system of over 100,000 students has posters framed in the halls and admin offices but I guarantee someone obviously didn't look closely enough before posting about this site. I got a good laugh before I responded.

I could see him either being the world's best boss or the world's worst.

Well, the idea for the demotivators came from the buy out of the company that we worked for. The new managment really seemed to lack clue and it left very many of us, well, really unhappy. I'd say how I really feel but the filters would catch it, and then the mods would yell at me He was over the tech support department. They tried to make things better by like giving away a really nice TV to the tech who got the most good reports from customers, but that was flawed. The guy who won asked every customer to do the thing so he could win the TV, and that guy was not a very good tech at all. My guess is he probably actually fixed maybe 20% of the calls he got. They would bring in anyone they could to do support, and when I started it was a badge of honor to know every OS and be able to support all the various software available at the time to get on the Internet (this was when Win95 just came out, so lots of Win 3.11 users and different types of software to connect to the net).

I spent many a day in his office when I'd do something they were not happy about but he always was cool and kept me around. He really does have his doctorate, and I recall he listened to rap. Very dry and quick witted. I know more than one person would walk away confused after having a conversation with him. Now I need to see if I can get in touch with him...
