True Story:

Met my sister at the airport last year as we were heading down for the marathon. She looked at my carryon as she waited in line to check her bags. I said to her, "No way am I letting my running sneakers travel without me. I'm carrying on everything!" She looked at me with terror in her eyes..."My sneakers," she whined, "I left my sneakers home!"

Thank goodness for Fed Ex and her boyfriend. He shipped them down to her and arrived with plenty of time to spare!!

I cannot emphasize this enough. I have seen folk s without shoes, swim wear, helmets shorts, goggles, you name it......

You should make the list tonight, this weekend, or at least before the new year. It will not absolutely prevent a miss but will lower the likelihood.

I. Also encourage you to unpack your race day stuff once in your room. Lay it out on the bed before everything gets messy (that may just be my room). This will allow you to see if you forgat anything once on site.


Oh, for the record, I was the guy who forgot a helmet. It was a couple years ago and a necessary open water swim tri that seemed to crater the middle of the season.
