Make-up in August

I think I'm thinly person who doesn't use waterproof mascara! I never have an issue with regular mascara running or anything even if I'm out in the rain, I've yet to find a waterproof mascara that didn't bother my eyes so I usually stick to regular mascara no matter the brand.

I also use liquid foundation (all year round), I use hourglass mattifying foundation and with makeup forever setting powder I'm usually okay even in the summer. I can't do bare minerals it breaks me out something awful, but my sister uses it and loves it (at home and at Disney).

For lipstick, for the parks one of the ones that seems to stay the best for me all day is urban decay revolution lipstick, I like a bright pink color and I usually apply the lipstick then put finishing powder on top of it, then apply another layer of the lipstick and it's good to go. It is not transfer proof lipstick, but that's not a huge issue so it still works out well for me.

I love going shopping for new makeup so this thread is great, I'm going back to read through it and write some stuff down to try in the future.

I use Ben Nye Final Seal setting spray and Ben Nye powder. My make up lasts all day.

Why try to look like something that you are not? Embrace the change that comes with age. My wife is now in her 50s and has never been more beautiful.

Primer is always a good idea to put on your face first. If you want a foundation, Estee Lauder has a great 24 Double Wear product that will not clog pores and will last through anything. It is the only product my daughter's dermatologist recommends for theater. There are several different levels of coverage, from light to camouflage/full coverage. Even the heaviest coverage goes on and feels light. A setting spray isn't necessary with the Estee Lauder, but if you go with a different foundation, you might want to use one. Also, waterproof mascara and eyeliner is a must if you want to wear either of those. Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour lip stain is the only one I know of that does't get cakey and dry.

If you are comfortable going without a lot of makeup, I would personally skip the foundation and use mascara and the lip stain with just a light dusting of powder.

I am in my 40's and have dark patches of skin from years of sun abuse when I was younger. It really bothered me when I first started noticing it, but it doesn't anymore. I do wear light and natural makeup most days. For parks, I wear a very lightly tinted sunscreen to protect my face, along with the mascara and lip stain. That's about it!

I have another product to add! For lip color that stays -all- day, Oops my lips lip stain by Berrisom! Meme box sells it, they ship from Korea, for a reasonable price. I purchased the set, not expecting much, but they are amazing! 10 minutes to apply, and the color is temporarily "tattooed" onto your lips. Lasted almost 10 hours for me. They now also have eyebrow tints that I can't wait to try.

Do not forget to have a good sunscreen on. You can embrace your age, but the quickest way to get wrinkles and sunspots is to not wear correct sunscreen.

Besides, who doesn't want to look good in photos (besides my husband)? It's just natural, I want to look nice. Plus, I have rosaca, and makeup really helps with my redness. So don't be to quick to judge why people wear or don't wear makeup. ;)

And for op, try IT or Tarte. Tarte is clay based, fyi, if that makes a difference to you.

I go in the summer also. I stick with a tinted moisturizer with SPF and a small amount of eye liner. I'm 50. I don't bother with anything else. It's seriously too hot to have makeup melting off your face. We also like to hit the water parks for a couple of hours in th afternoon and I couldnt be bothered removing and reapplying makeup. So I keep it very simple!!

Yes, waterproof mascara is a must, any recommendations?

I do like Lancôme products, so I will look into that :)

I'm using Mary Kay right now and I don't really like it

I use Make Up Forever Aqua waterproof mascara, and Stila waterproof eyeliner. Urban Decay has a pencil concealer I use under my eyes (I have horrible under eye circles so concealer is a must) and then I use either Bare Minerals powder or a tinted moisturizer allover. That is the exact same thing I wear pretty much everyday anyway. I guess I don't sweat much...I've never had issues with makeup in summer.

In awe of some of these low maintenance make-up routines! I wish I could be a BB cream and mascara person.

I wear moisturiser, foundation, concealer, blusher, powder, two shades of highlighter, mascara, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil and lipstick. I will be wearing all of that in the parks in August. I survived 35C / 95F in Madrid with a full face and I'll manage it at Disney.

I swear by Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder by the way, it keeps everything in place and absorbs all sweat/oil. Kat Von D lip stains and Arch Hourglass eyebrow pencil both also have serious staying power. They survive water rides, gale force winds, crappy English weather and most importantly, that lipstick can survive a night of cocktails and a burger on the way home.

Rodan + Fields skincare has made it to where I no longer have to wear make-up aside from eyes and lips. I am proudly foundation free! And the sunscreens that are included in the regimens are amazing! There is a regimen for every skin type/concern and they all include a last step that is a sunscreen/protectant.

I can understand why people don't wear make-up in August. However, I'm in my 40's and my skin has aged...it has uneven tone and dark circles. I love the photopass pics and have always prepurchased it. I hope to find a good concealer and nice foundation/sunblock. Then I'll be good with maybe a little mascara and lip gloss. Is that reasonable? We plan to go back to CBR most afternoons to recharge.

I generally where makeup whenever i go. i was graced with not sweating easily but everyone is different! i know if i'm going to be doing something where i will be getting wet i only use my water proof stuff. Other than that i don't normally have problems. I have heard that Urban Decay setting spray works really great so i would try it if i wasn't a broke college kid  But it seems like if you have problems that it is the best solution!

Have you ever tried any lash primer? I use it (Clinique) since I wear waterproof all the time (I'm a crier LOL). Seems to keep mine in pretty good shape through all the scrubbing. Also helps non-waterproof stay on pretty well, in a pinch.

And thanks to this thread, I just purchased some tinted moisturizer with sunscreen (Clinique, my usual brand of foundation). Please reference the "how is the DIS bankrupting you?" thread ;). Seriously, though, thanks for the idea--I really don't shop for makeup outside my usual, so didn't even know about a lot of this stuff.

I live in Central Florida and wear make-up every day, so I've had a lot of practice finding products that don't just slide off my face in the heat.

In the summer (basically anywhere from May to October) I only ever wear BB cream or a powder. I'm still on the hunt for a BB cream I love, but the powder I use is Bare Minerals Matte foundation powder with the Mineral Veil underneath. That stays out pretty well on its own, but I use two additional products to make it really stick. The first is Urban Decays primer potion, which works wonders. The second is Ben Nye Final Seal make-up setting spray. You use this to set everything, and it does a great job of acting as a barrier to keep your foundation in place. I've heard good things about Urban Decays setting spray too.
Have you tried IT BB cream?

Yes. And that is really awful for me too. Even Dior Show is pretty poor performing on my lashes. Better than Sex is the only one that does anything with them. And trust me, I have used every.single.mascara on the market. Including the fiber ones (double yuck!)
Must try this better than sex mascara! I hsve thin light eyelashes and I've had best results with Urban Decay Perversion eyelash primer with Lancome hypnose mascara.

I live in NE Florida and wear makeup to school/work and anytime there will be pictures taken even in hit humid outdoor summer, but not daily--though usually mascara daily.

Pretty much everything I wear has been mentioned but I thought I'd further recommend:
Bare minerals primer and eyelid primer
IT cosmetics BB cream and concealer powder used very lightly just on T-zone and reapplied mid day
Bare minerals blush ("sunkissed"??) and lipstick ("make your move" I believe is the name of my favorite)
Urban Decay Perversion eyelash primer
Lancome Hypnose mascara
Stilla liquid eyeliner pencil
Bare minerals and Physician's Formula Eyeshadows

Takes me about 15-20 minutes for full face makeup. Thanks to everyone here I'm planning to try the Urban Decay setting spray and maybe some new mascaras.
