We just returned from a quick weekend at All-Star Music. I was hoping to be able to report the location of the second set of Roll-In Shower Rooms at Music. (There is a set in Calypso). However, not to be.

I made our reservations online with a Passholder rate, then called CRO a couple of days later and asked to speak with Special Services. The agent said she could take care of my requests for them. So I said I needed an accessible room with a Roll-In Shower. She asked me to hold while she supposedly talked to Special Services. She came back on the line about 2 minutes later and said everything was all set.

Four days before our trip, I faxed in our requests stating that per special services we had a Roll-In Shower guaranteed and could it please be a 1st Floor Courtyard View room.

Well, when we arrived, we did get our 1st Floor Courtyard View Room at Rock Inn, but it was not an accessible room. The guy at the desk said that it was just in as a request and had not been blocked by Special Services. He asked if we spoke with Special Services and I told him not directly, that CRO told me they handled it for me.

The room was actually fine. We each took a double bed, and I just had to give hubby a helping hand climbing in and out of the tub.

You know, I think that's so funny. We have made reservations for a roll-in shower 3 times w/o talking to special services directly and have always gotten one.

Maybe the 1st floor request bumped the roll-in shower part off the reservation by mistake? Since they were made at different times, perhaps the person who entered the request into the computer erased the original tag on the reservation.

I just had the same thing happen this past weekend for a stay at AS Sports. The front desk made sure to tell me I should've spoken to Special Needs. Hrrmph...I was on hold over 30 minutes ( not exaggerating) while the CM I was speaking to contacted Sp. Needs- she came back to me to let me know the roll in shower room was available and I was "good to go". The front desk staff seemed doubtful that I was telling the truth, but of course I'm going to be sure I let someone know what my needs are. They magically found a room for me on the first floor in Surf's Up, thank goodness! ---Kathy

Personally I think that no one should waste their time with CRO if the need a rollin shower. Dont waste time with the middle man that might mess it up.

The "new" policy at CRO which has been in place for quite some time is that the guest no longer is able to speak with Special Services. This is where the problem lies- in the communication between the person you are speaking with, who then contacts, Sp Req, who then gets back to you. Somewhere along the line things go wrong. ---Kathy

We are Disney veterans and have been going to WDW for almost 25 yrs (Every Year)... As we aged (hopefully gracefully).. aches and pains slowly took over... My wife is now partially disabled with knee problems... Only recently have we asked for a first floor room with a king bed and roll-in shower... We were told to make the reservations and notations would be made, and Special Services would followup and send us a second confirmation with the Special Services request noted on it and the room would be locked in... Our last two visits only months ago, the front desk at check-in didn't have a clue about the Special Services Requests, they wanted to give us 3rd floor with two double beds.. LOL.. it's like they never look at the special request info... I'm not sure what's going on.. we followed their every rule and guideline and they still got it wrong... we are scehduled to check in on Feb 9th 2006 and have followed their requests to the letter... I will let you know how it turns out... goofy :confused3

Does your confirmation letter say anything "Confirmed". If it does, it should be in the computer and blocked. If it doesn't, it probably isn't blocked.
you could also try calling the resort about 3 days before you are set to arrive. From what I have read, that's when the room assigner actually figures out which room go to which guests.

Thank you for the help... We were going to give them till Monday to send the confirmed (second) reservation with the special request typed on there.. We will be calling them tomorrow since we have not received anything yet.. I see nothing on our present reservation form to indicate anything at all... Hmmmm :confused3
