Make me feel good about T-Rex

My sister wants to go to T-Rex on vacation . She is 20 years old so not little so it's not like we're taking a child for the atmosphere. I have heard a lot of negative about this place so my question is what's positive about it and what are some are there better entrees?

We've been the last two years (kids 7, 5, and now 1) and have reservations for next month as well. Our DD7 is a major dino person, so we go for her. We've also been to Rainforest and like T-Rex better, in part because it fits our interests better. We have found the food to be of similar quality to other WDW TS restaurants, with similar pricing, which makes me feel a bit better about it. We love to wander around, identify the dinosaurs, and take some pictures while we wait for our food, so we try to go at off times when it is less busy.

As for entrees, we've had burgers, which I would call good-average. We split a Boneyard Buffet paired with something else last year (maybe a steak?), which was also good. I've never had a disappointing meal there, and I feel like there's enough variety for everyone.

I've also read some of the negative reports, but based on our experiences, I'd say it's a fine place to go. It's also the place DD asks about on a weekly basis, just to make sure we're going there on our next trip, so we can't skip it. It's as much a part of our Disney experience as Dumbo.

We enjoyed everything we had at TRex, the tomato soup was really yummy. Think I also had the lasagna. It's WAY better than Rainforest! We're definetly planning on visiting our next trip. Plus, you don't need a kid to enjoy the atmosphere, it's fun for anyone .

DH and I have been to T-Rex only once (last May). But, we had a great experience. We found our server to be very pleasant and efficient. We were there at lunchtime and decided on 2 appetizers for our meal. Both were really good. Here are some pics of the onion rings and nachos we ordered.

If your that skeptical about the place, then you will have a hard time deciding on other restaurants at Disney. I personally loved it, wonderful atmosphere (ice room! meteor showers!), and the food is quite delish as well. If you went by what others say, you will be cancelling and making ressies every single day until your trip. There are always mixed reviews at pretty much every disney restaurant.

We love T-rex. We go there on arrival day and let the girls do build a dino. They love it. I think the food is good. But this is coming from someone that prefers the QSDP also. The portions imo are huge.

We (DH, 2 DS, DD, and I) went in June of this year and I actually really enjoyed T-Rex. My kids absolutely loved it and were very excited about the atmosphere and all the action going on. Now granted, this was our first night of the trip and we were super hyped, but I thought the place was pretty cool. There are downsides to this place though. It is super crowded, and I mean SUPER CROWDED. Like elbows to elbows. They really pack em' in so it is not for those who expect to have much personal space or suffer from closterphobia. The other thing is, the prices are crazy high. We just did appetizers and kids meals because it was so late when we got there (9:45pm) and we spent almost $80 without the tip. We had 5 drinks (my daughter's was not a refillable drink and we had to pay for all her subsequent drinks), 3 appetizers, and 2 kid's meals. However, I must admit, these prices are in keeping with what one would expect from dining in or near Disney World. As for the food, it was pretty good. I mean, I'm not raving about it like it was the best I ever had, but what I had was reasonably good and was easily comparible to your average chain restaurant (Ruby Tuesday, Applebee's). The service was pretty slow too and our server was not friendly at all. He seemed impatient and rushed. He was not very attentive to say the least. We only saw him a very brief handful of times. We got one refill on our drinks and that was when he brought us our checks and realized we were all empty and that he had not been to check on us during our meal. To be honest though, we didn't really go for the food or the service, we went for the scenery. Hope this helps you!

We usually stop there on our way to our hotel if we are too early for checkin. Our kids are 12 and 9 and they love it-we have been happy with the service and the food. It is a different way to experience Disney. We have made reservations and cancelled them as well but that was based on time of day and how it would have broken up our day too much. We like the meteor room! It reminds of us of "ICE AGE".

I'm not sure where the negative reviews are, I've only seen a handful to go with 100's of positive ones. We go to T-Rex once everytime we go to Disney. Great atmosphere and good food. The one thing they do quite well is steak. I always order a steak at T-Rex and look forward to it every visit.

Really??? negative reviews? About Trex? On this site??? I havent seen any.

It really is a lot of fun and far better than Rainforest cafe. Its worth trying at least once in your life. If you dont want to order an entree, you can always just order something small like an appetizer. Have fun!

T-Rex is amazing! We even have a reservation to go there this Wednesday! Everything my family has gotten from there is awesome. I always get the fish and chips.

I haven't seen negative reviews of t-rex. And we had a good experience.

IMO the place is better the older you get, because it's REALLY loud in there, and kids can be sensitive to that. There are moving dinosaurs and the meteor shower makes things dark in some of the rooms, and those aspects can also be bad for kids.

So a 20 year old will have nothing but a good time.

We had some 3 tiered appetizer (made vegetarian), shared it between two people (with some bites taken by our son as well) and it was *delicious*. Can't remember what DS had but he liked his food, too. We left stuffed and happy, glad we went.

Well, we ate there expecting food of the same quality as RainForest and I have to admit I feel it was better. We've eaten there 3 times, had good food and good wait staff. The Chicken Pot Pie is made with rotisserie chicken breast and is big enough for 2, possibly 3 people. We had the dip combo and after our 1st trip only did the cheese, the shrimp I didn't care for. The French onion is tasty. Friends have had the mahi-mahi and requested it plainly grilled rather than how it states on the menu and they were happy. The onion rings are good. Unfortunately, we've never made it to dessert, too stuffed, though we've always wanted to try the chocolate erupting thing the waiters keep walking by with! Ah! maybe next time!

we LOVE t-rex!!! we've been 4 different times now. i love the atmosphere, our 10yr dd does too, she even still digs for fossils. we always split the colossal nachos, they are so good!!! be sure and call them direct to make your reservation. we've always made ressies and walked right in. can't wait to go again.

We really enjoyed T-Rex the last few times we were there-both with and without kids. Great salads! And this is coming from someone who finds most all other restaurants/food at Disney comparable to eating sludge off the bottom of a rock.

We are going to T-Rex next trip... A friend told us good things about it. I know DS6 will like it. The menu looks expensive but I guess just slightly more expensive than other restaurants at Disney. And it's not on the dining plan.... but looks like fun for anyone.

So, if your birthday is a date near your trip... for $25, you get $50 off your T-Rex Bill. The club is basically a point system where you earn $ credits when you spend at Landrys restaurants.

Priority SeatingThe Landry's Select Club also gives you priority seating. That means you can walk up to T-Rex without a reservation, show your club card and get priority seating. They aim to seat you within 20 minutes.
