Make me feel better about NOT going during "Free Dining"

I just found out we are missing Free Dining by ONE WEEK!! It starts the day after we leave I made all our ADR's a few weeks ago, no problem, got everything we wanted. I know there are lots of folks who can't go during free food week. So what are the down sides? Is it more crowded? You can't get reservations? Food is bad? They run out of stuff? Waiters are cranky? Anything?
Woe is me - this is the sort of thing that always happens.

Did you get a good discount on your room? Free Dining was offered when we went, but we got a much better offer on the Room-Only vs the Package.

I would think going when there is no FD would make the table service places less busy. Stands to reason that if people had to pay more OOP, they would pick the cheaper places. Just a guess.

Don't worry...just get lots of giftcards for people who love you, and pay for your dining with those

No, no discount on the room - yet anyway. Maybe they'll offer that down the road, who knows? Like they are from April thru June. Good idea about the gift cards, though!

Oh, you have plenty of time. They will come out with a discount. Might even come out with free dining for that time. You never know!

I went on AllEars and figured out which restaurants I wanted to eat at and made a spreadsheet on Excel with each of us and what we probably would order and how much it cost. Then I could see for sure if we would save anything with free dining. Now granted, if we had done FD, we would've eaten more table service meals, but we certainly got enough food and it worked out well for us. If they happened to offer it again next time, we might take it. We stayed at the Poly this time, so a room discount there was more savings than the FD. But next time will be a moderate or maybe WL, so the nightly rate won't be such a savings. We will weigh our options at that time.
