I am going in May with a party of 12 to AKV we have 3 studios, 2 of which are values and the other is standard. Last year we all stayed at BCV and everyone of course LOVED IT. Now this year we are at AKV for 9 nights and I am getting a little nervous about staying here and I hope everyone will like it. We have 6 adults and 6 kids ranging from 2 to 12 years old. Please help to make me excited about stayting at AKV and to stop all this worrying

I think that you will love AKV. The rooms are beautiful, the resort is a one of a kind. Enjoy the theming, the restaurants, (Boma and Jiko are incredible) and have fun watching all of the animals.

Have fun!

There are organized activities for the kids, and I think the playground that's in back by the pool is neat. There always seemed to be children enjoying it. The CMs who come from African contries are very eager to chat with you and talk about their homeland and the animals. AKV is a fun place to be!

We had a great time at AKV recently. The pool, food, people, were all very good.

Animals to watch, cozy firepits inside and out, lots of activities, a really nice pool with zero entry for the little ones and a slide for the bigger ones, interesting displays of African art and artifacts, plasma HD TVs and free DVDs in your rooms, bus service that serves only AKL, and terrific CS, buffet and TS restaurants.

Take a walk and see for yourself. You won't be dissappointed. Neither will the kids.

Its one of the best places on earth! We just feel so happy when we walk in to AKV. You will enjoy it!

Depends upon your personal tastes, IMO.

Obviously it's a Disney-quality resort. You'll have the same type of service and amenities that you would expect at all Disney resorts. Transportation to all parks is via buses. There are three different restaurants available and an impressive pool.

But it's certainly not all things to all people.

The resort theming features a lot of dark woods and animal prints. The pool is nice but no Stormalong Bay.

The restaurants are very highly regarded by most, but if that sort of cuisine isn't your thing, you may be disappointed. The quick service restaurant--The Mara--has some fairly run-of-the-mill offerings to suit all tastes. Things are much more eclectic at Boma and Jiko. Let's just say that if your tastes favor the likes of Cape May Cafe, Beaches & Cream and the ESPN Club, Boma and Jiko may not be high on your list.

I tend to think that folks should sample a resort before judging. AKV may or may not end up being your favorite-but at least go into it with enough optimism to enjoy the trip. Although BCV is your current favorite, you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you walk in the door convinced you'll hate AKV simply because you can't walk to Epcot.

Worst-case you'll know not to return to AKV. Best-case, you may discover you have a new favorite resort. :thumbsup2

We loved it, and Jiko is one of our favorite WDW signatures. The only thing I might be a bit cautious about is the value rooms. You are aware that the value rooms are very small, right?

Loved the animals during our stay this past September. Loved all three restaurants, especially The Mara for quick service.

AKL was the reason we DIDN'T buy into DVC sooner. We didn't want to give up our favorite resort to stay DVC instead. We were overjoyed when DVC was added and became founding members of AKV on the first day points were offered for sale.

We love VWL, BWV AND AKV. AKV theme is great, the animals outside your room can't be found at any other hotel in the U.S. and Jiko's is easily our favorite restaurant.

I love both resorts for different reasons..however, AKV has MUCh better bus transportation.

Don't know about the OP, but you guys got me all excited about our upcoming trip!
