we did a cruise with make a wish this past october. it was great. everyday there were little surprises for all the kids. $20 game cards everyday also and a few days there were stuffed animals and the kids got smoothies almost every dinner. we also had a special bridge tour and a special character meeting. they did so many things that just made the trip so very special. if you have any questions please send me a message or email me at jkriz@charter.net

We will possibly be going on a cruise in the near future with our daughter through Make a Wish. We thought it would be a great opportunity for her to have a Disney experience but without having to get her through one of the parks. Now that I've read up on the cruise however, I am not sure this is the best option either. What will she be able to actually participate in? She's three years old and has a rare seizure disorder that has left her severely developmentally delayed. She can't walk, talk, hold up her head, obviously isn't toilet trained, is g-tube fed and has seizures constantly that are more annoying to us than anything else. She LOVES music and lights (a party girl!) being in the water and being around other children and people in general. Is this a good idea or not? Help! :scratchin

Our daughter went on a wish trip this past September....We all had a great time...We didn't get all the special treatment like the first poster stated (post #2)...But like they said...if you have any more quesitons...I'd love to answer what I could. Also down at the bottom of my signature...is a link to our DCL/Wish trip scrapbook album...fell free to take a look at all of our fun. :)

Good morning,
First I want to extend my sincere thanks for sharing the stories of your children. I can only imagine how difficult it has to be to watch your children struggle at an age when they should be enjoying all the benefactors of being a child.
Anyhow for what knowledge I have with DCL and the MAW connection, DCL and its staff do go to the intch degree in making sure that these children have their dream cruise - the staff do receive a list of the children going on these cruises and they try to make sure that these children are made to feel just a little extra special. Just maybe even trade the tears for smiles if only for a little while.
If I couldn't say anything good about DCL, this is one I would get on a soap box to sing their praises over and over again.
I hope that this will give some insight to DCL and the MAW children.
You could never guess when a surprise just may pop up - I have seen it happen.
Many blessings to you and yours
always
Shirley

My son and I were on a MAW cruise also. If there is ANYTHING I can help you with,, pm me or email me..i will pm you with my email address. Disney is all about the magic......you will see :).

We were on the Magic with several MAW families. TooPure's was one of them in 2004. They did so much for them and it appeared they all had a great time. I am sure Tracy will help you with any questions.....

I don't know if the threads about Nate are still available. His family did a DCL cruise through a different organization than MAW. I'm sure Verandah Man can tell you a lot about Nate and his family and their cruise.

Thank you to everyone who has provided more information on Make a Wish. I guess I am just very nervous about travelling with my daughter. Sometimes it's a challenge just getting out of the house everyday...I don't even want to think about getting her in an airplane then a cruise ship and let's not even talk about the equipment we will need to take with us! :teeth:
Thanks again!

Best of luck, not only on the cruise, but in every day.

My son has been granted a wish to sail on on May 1,2005 Wonder. Everyone that has contacted me via this website as only had positive things to say. Dont feel bad, i too am going crazy trying to get information since everything is being booked by someone else. When do you all plan to sail out?

I'm sure we have been put in good hands and the kids will have a great time away from what is their normal routines.

Best of Luck and Have a Wonderful Trip!

Hi PrincessesAlissa!

From what I hear, we are going the week of April 9-16 although no one has given us a firm date yet. We just found out about this in late Jan/early Feb so seems like everything is happening way too fast!
I'm sure the trip will be great. Hope yours is a dream come true as well!

Enjoy your trip and make beatiful memories that will last a lifetime. Where there is a will there is a way! Don't stress about the traveling. Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. Leave the stressing to DCL. Wishing you and your family the most "MAGICal" trip in the world!! :sunny:

Ohhhh I remember that wait...It was aweful. I couldn't take it....and had to have the foundation book our trip for WAY in advance...I think we were planning for around 8-9mos. We just couldn't do the drop everything and run mode that they wanted...from their responce they don't get many people wanting to plan a little more...But with work and all we couldn't just give a couple weeks notice.

Either way...you and your family will have the trip of a lifetime. Maybe all the pre trip stress of the short notice will make your trip even more enjoyable. :earboy2:

We just came off the Wonder from my Daughters (age 7) Make A Wish Trip Feb 17th. Everything was wonderful.

Our was put togehter in 6 weeks, Do not worry you are in good hands with Make A Wish and Disney.
Everything was in order and they will come a=out to see you a few days before your trip!

When you board go directly to Guest Services and ask to meet your Make A Wish Host, Ours was Kristopher,He was great, If you have any special needs let him know then, he or they will take care of you no problems. This will put you at ease......

Should you have any questions, Please do not hesitate to contact me.

I WISH you and you family the best of time, take your time and enjoy it!

Again contact me should you have any questions.

One other thing, there was an elderly gentleman on our cruise that had 1 of those electric scooters, we ran into him everywhere on the ship. So manueverbility with a wheel chair is fine.

Best Regards,
