I am 15, and I have medical problems. This week, I was refered to a local Wish Granting organization by a Child Life specialist at my hospital (I'm getting my medications changed).

I have seen many trip reports and other posts about Wish trips to Disney. Even though I am not planning on a Disney wish, I was wondering if anyone could describe the whole process for me. Thanks! :wizard:

The process depends on the wish granting agency.

I would suggest googling the wish agency-almost all of them have websites.

Standard wait time is 6 months.

Wishes generally fall into one of these categories...

I wish to have...(computer, home entertainment system, etc)
I wish to be...(a super hero, actress, etc)
I wish to meet...(Hannah Montana, Orlando Bloom, etc)
I wish to go...(Disney, Hawaii, Mexico, etc)

I suggest making specific points like I wish to go to New York City and see Wicked on broadway and meet the cast.

If there are specifics you want, ask.

Remember that this is once in a lifetime.

Some wish organizations have other activities available to wish children after the wish. For example, Make-A-Wish in Tulsa, Oklahoma had activities for children for two years after their wish. I went to special Christmas parties and had a special view of the Blue Angels and met them with other wish kids...

Wish agencies really try to make your wish everything you want and it usually exceeds your expectations...

Hi,

We are about to leave on our daughter's wish trip. You can read about some of our pre trip plans in our trip report in our signature. I give pictures and explain how our wish trip is planned, the wish package, and what we are doing to get ready for the trip.:wizard:

We did the MAW last December, they are wonderful. I would have never known how accomodating the parks are down there to the disabled if I would not have been referred to MAW. We recieved tickets--three days to DW, two at Universal, and one at SW. THE MAW village is so magical! All you can eat icecream and pizza...you can even have it for breakfast! The restaurant is a gingerbread house...they have lots of fun activities, it is a dream just going to the village. They have activities all day and night and characters visit. They took care of everything and even give you some souvenier money. :goodvibes
