Make A Wish Trip

My nephew who is 12(and his mom) have been granted a wish thru Make a
Wish.He has chosen to take me(his Aunt and my DD who is 3 1/2 on a Disney trip. I am also 6 months pregnant! She is due mid Sept. Would it be better for us to plan a trip in early Dec(my nephews fav time)or go sometime in the spring of 2006 when the baby is a little older?It would be just me caring for my kids as my sister will have her hands full with my nephew(he is in a wheelchair).We will be staying on site, and my DD was already there when she was 2 and did fine then.One last thing, we are going Amtrak(53 hours w/a sleeper car)because this is my nephews wish.

There are also a lot of helpful info on wheelchairs, and "GAC" (guest assitant cards, which you probably dont need with a wheelchair, but the info is invaluable!)

I do know that kids through the make a wish receive a special pin to wear and they have to wait in no lines, if that helps with your thinking at all.

My cousin's daughter went as a make a wish child (brain tumor). They didn't stay on the disney property, but off site at a special hotel for make a wish kids. They also received presents every night in their rooms and spending money when they got there. I guess they hotel they stayed at was just wonderful beyond belief.

Probably the best thing is to look at your nephew's overall health. You want him to go at a time that is best for him to enjoy it physically, mentally and emotionally. If it does not matter whether it is the spring or dec then I would recommend sitting down with him and making a list of pros and cons for each season- such as + for Christmas decorations and special events in Dec, vs + for swimming outdoors, Star Wars events in the spring. Then sit down with a second list of +/- for the baby's age in dec vs. the spring- which isn't a huge gap in time. Looking at it that way should help everyone arrive at the time that is best for you to go.
