Make A Wish trip

NOTE: Sorry to hear about your "ethical" objections. Many of those claims have already been disproven by government investigators.
Can you provide a source on what, if anything government investigators have disproven? I'm not sure the the government regulates animal inbreeding, minimum age before breeding, age at which mothers and calfs can be separated, selective breeding to weed out agression, crossbreeding subspecies, chlorine use in tanks or many other criticism. I believe that they regulate tank size and whether or not humans can get in the tank and not much else. And just because something meets the minimum standards doesn't make it ethical considering that the minimums are based on averages and formulas that haven't been revised for some animals in 30 years.

At disney you get the genie pass, which is a lanyard with the genie on it that gets you in the fast pass lanes of all rides. We found that for characters it got us to the front of all lines, even for informal meet and greets that had no fast pass line. The line for anna and elsa was 3 hours, we never would have done it without the pass. Also, twice the characters were leaving just as we were showing up, we pulled out the pass and they stayed for us. at universal, we got a card on a lanyard which got us to the front of all lines for rides and characters. at universal they really went out of the way once they saw the pass, we were escorted by staff members to the next attraction frequently to make sure we didnt get lost, and when asked where to see characters at universal they radiod to find out where they were and told them to wait for us. We stopped for facepaintng at universal, and they gave the wish child free facepaint. At both parks we were offerred several times to reride rides without getting off( we didnt ask, it was offered, even for big rides like big thunder). It was great. We could only do 3-4 hours a day in the parks because of health issues, but we did most of what we wanted because of the pass. Also, most chapters give a gift card for meals, souveniers, etc. It varies by chapter, most ive spoken with get $500, but others have gotten as much as $1000. Gktw provides free meals, and there is a cooky cart that will deliver cookies to your villa

As far as I can tell this is the latest from Captain Paul Watson on Sea World http://www.seashepherd.org/commentary-and-editorials/2015/01/07/if-i-were-ceo-of-seaworld-680

I trust the Sea Shepherds and their stance on the state of things at Sea World as I am a Sea Shepherd member. It's not just Sea World that I have ethical and moral objections to, our Canadian equivalent Marineland I have much the same feelings with, and there are more reasons than my own personal feelings as to why we won't be going though we appreciate the tickets and the opportunity to go if given the choice. ;)

Congrats on your wish approval. Hope everything works out. If Disney is His wish I really think you will love GKTW, we leave in 8 days for my son's wish trip and the staff there has already amazed me and we haven't even began our trip. I can not imagine the praises by the time we are finished, we are already fans and supporters for life! Best of luck, let us know how it works out.

1) You will be given a package of tickets.
2) If you elect no to go, then simply stay at the resort - you do not HAVE to do any activity. *
3) If you are staying at Give-Kids-The-World, there are lots of things to do --- all day long.
. . . ice cream for breakfast
. . . daily gifts for the kids
. . . Christmas and Santa Claus every Thursday
. . . pools
. . . trains
. . . mini amusement park areas
. . . everything, except some souvenirs, is free inside GKTW confines!!!
4) At GKTW, we take REALLY good care of you and the kiddies.

Yea, and in FL that leaves Busch Gardens and Discovery Cove out as well, since Sea World owns those. I know there are other non-theme park activities in the area, it's just not something I've ever had to research. I suppose you could always pay out of pocket for a 4th day, and buy a 1 park ticket. I guess it depends how much you get done the first resort day at GKTW.

Thank you WendyLou. Disney is his wish for sure, he sleeps and eats Mickey & Minnie. Mickey was his first sign. After looking a little more at the GKTW website I have no doubt what so ever that we will have a FANTASTIC time there, almost as much as we will at Disney. We are feeling very blessed to be able to go to both GKTW and WDW.

I sent the parent paperwork back to MAW yesterday so now we just wait, from what they explained in the welcome letter, for them to read through his info and then connect us with his wish granters. :smooth:

Mickey appears at GKTW besides the parks used to be around breakfast times. we usually stopped by on our way to breakfast. one of the 2 trips as 2 of grandsons had trips, Mickey appeared at the pool party. there is so much going on at GKTW we really had to pick what we wanted to do. do not know if Islands of Adventure still does this for the kids but wish kids got special treatment on the trolley train in Seuss Land. we also got a special visit with the super heros which my grandsons thought was great. all the parks were great to wish kids

Well we found out this morning that Casper will be getting his wish to spend his 4th birthday with Mickey & pals at the Magic Kingdom. Now it's a mad rush to get his passport because we just realized it expired last month, because they need it to start booking things for our trip. It will be in September.

This all happened so quickly they are really on the ball. It's so exciting.

1) YES, YOU WILL !
2) But, what many folks do not realize is that parents have a better time than the kids do !
3) Typically,
. . . parents of a MAW child are busy 24/7 in caring for the kid
. . . sometimes, they and other siblings do not get time-to-themselves due to the care required by the MAW child
. . . at GKTW, we take care of the MAW kids, leaving the parents with time off
. . . the parents can do-their-own-thing and spend time with non-MAW siblings
. . . for the parents and siblings, it is truly a vacation
. . . many parents tell us they had more fun than the kids !!!!!!

Please, no more "ethical discussions".
This is not the place for it.

Sorry SueM I didn't mean to start a discussion on it.

We are officially booked. We got word from MAW today we leave Sept 24th (2 days before his birthday) and come home Oct 1st. This way we have a couple days to get settled before he gets to spend his BIG DAY with Mickey

Now not telling the kids until the big reveal is going to be hard, I am way too excited for them. :p

Yea for your dates!! Are you having a reveal party? My wish kid shares her birthday with Walt Disney himself (December 5)! I'm debating between Early November or Early December, over her birthday. :)
