Hi! We are staying in a Disney Resort for my daughters make-a-wish Trip. My daughter who is 13 asked if she could stary in a Disney Resort and they said that was fine. We don't know which resort yet but they gave us the dates and told us we still have to check in at Give the kids the World village to get our tickets and stuff. Has anyone else had their Make-a-wish Trip in a Disney esort? What did they do about meals, I know they have meals at the Village but we are not staying at the Village.
Thank-You,
PammyPoppins

I was wondering how many nights you were staying and if you were only receiving Disney tickets or Universal / Sea World as well? When I talked to MAW on the phone, they said that only doing WDW was a 5 day trip, but then they had the "normal" trip that was 3 days at WDW, 2 days at Universal, and 1 at Sea World. I may be getting the exact numbers wrong, but bottom line, only doing Disney gave you more days at Disney itself but fewer days in the area. So, I am just curious what parks they are giving you tickets to?

Hi Suzanne,
I am pretty sure we are staying 6 nights. I thought we were just getting Disney tickets but I found out yesterday that we are getting the ones you mentioned that are Disney and Universal and Sea World. We requested just Disney Tickets but they did not accept that request. We will buy some additional Disney days ourselves. I don't have alot of info on our trip yet and alot of it I am thinking we are not going to know until right before the trip, that does make planning a bit tough.

My daughter has also received a MAW trip. We are hoping to go in October. I was hoping to get Disney tickets only. She doesn't seem interested in Universal or Sea World. I also asked if we could extend our trip a few days just so it was more relaxing.
don't know yet if this is a possiblity. Are you doing character meals? We still don't know exact dates so I'm unable to make reservations.

I think they have to offer tickets to all the places b/c they probably receive a government grant & equality to all the businesses is a requirement. I use to work for the County Health Dept. Our grant stated that we had to schedule pt apts equally among all the drs who signed up to participate in our program. Just my guess.

A-me - I am meeting with our MAW team in a couple of weeks when we are home for a visit. I had talked to them previously and they said they would work with me on dates. I know the week I would like to go, so I just called tonight and made reservations for a couple of meals I know DD would LOVE and will cancel if the dates don't work out. In additon, they also said that if I wanted to add days on to our trip they didn't care as long as it didn't impact them financially. In other words, they won't pay for a more expensive flight or more nights at a hotel. They said not all MAW chapters will let you add on to your trip so make sure to ask when you talk to them. How old is your DD? Mine is 5 and had a bone marrow transplant in November for Aplastic Anemia (not making blood cells), hence the MAW trip.

PammyPoppins - It will be interesting to see the differences in how each of our chapters work. I can't wait to meet with our team and get the ball rolling.

When my ds received his MAW trip we wanted to do quickly mostly because we didn't want to go in the middle of the summer. GKTW was booked so they made arrangements for us to stay at Boardwalk. It was beautiful. We received 3 day to Disney- Seaworld tickets& 1 day tickets to Universal. We choose to buy more days at Disney because we didnt want to run around too much and we saved the Universal tickets for another time which we used 2 years later. Expiration date on them was 2011. We needed to check in GKTW village on the first day so we went straight there from the airport and then went over to the hotel. We then went on the 2nd day for a meeting where they gave us all the tickets. We had free ice cream the first day and the second day my kids went to the arcade with dh while I went to the meeting. We meant to go back before we checked out but time just went to fast. 2 years later we did go back for an afternoon when we went back.
Beautiful Place :sunny:

Scoopman -My DD is 7. She has Idopathic Scoliosis. Maw will get back to me within the month with dates for our trip. I like your idea of making reservation now. They can always be changed. Thanks. Have a great trip.
