I can see both sides honestly. The trip is for the child who is sick. While we do try to make sure the siblings and parents have a great time, we are to focus on the child. During a normal child swap, the parent not riding could easily take that GAC and do something else with the child while the rest of the family rides. If somebody is using the GAC then switches out, this means the entire time they are on the ride that GAC is not available for use by the child, which I would think would force them to wait in the sun longer.

The other issue is that Disney has to address the abuse of the system. If people use others' GACs, it overwhelms the system. Unfortunately, the GACs and buttons are some of the most sought after items, and there are shops in Orlando that actually sell them to the guests. Requiring that the child be the one riding is meant to help address that abuse and make it harder for somebody to cheat the system.

That being said, I do agree with you Maroo that if possible a Cast Member should let the family ride even if the wish child cannot, and you will find that the vast majority of CMs feel the same way (which is why you had the experience you did.)

I just want to clarify one thing and then I don't plan to discuss this anymore.

The only group of people I was referring to was Wish Kids and their family. Only those with a GKTW issued GAC or GKTW issued button.

Anyone faking a GKTW button/GAC has other issues that I will not even address here. :headache: :sad2:

I know it would be too much for typical guests issued a GAC to "child swap" with a GAC and totally agree that someone with a Disney issued GAC should only use it WITH the person listed on the GAC.

But I definitely think that Disney should train their CM's that wish kids and families should all be taken care of as quickly as possible on the rides and anywhere else that is feasible. I just think it is the right thing to do for a family that is getting to the parks later and leaving earlier to attend GKTW activities and/or requiring extra rest or medical care.

We are getting so excited:banana: We just can not wait. We started our countdown calendar over the weekend and the boys can not wait to look at it in the mornings to see how many days we have left. We have our ADR's in place (thank you Maroo). We are going to have breakfast at the Crystal Palace but also a highlight of that is we get to meet Maroo in person. :cool1:Pooh and Maroo in one place how exciting. Maroo has been such a blessing and we now have our planner in our hands. WOW this is really happening!

One quick question. Is it better to buy the Photo Pass in advance or just wait until you get there?

How exciting for you guys to be getting plans in place and closer to your trip! Maroo is a gem! I get to meet her IRL in August. To answer your question, it is cheaper to buy the photopass cd in advance.

We are oficially in the single digits and I am so excited!!!! Mya had her meeting with her wish volunteers yesterday and they gave us all our info. Today we had a doctor's appointment and we officially have the green light to go!!! She was not even near making counts so no chemo before the trip! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: I have more give pics to post later as we are in the hospital while Mya is getting transfused. So later tonight, I'll post her pics and more details about the trip.

Aw! I am looking forward to meeting you guys, too!!! That meal is going to be pretty awesome. I LOVE, LOVE Pooh!!

Were you able to get Sci Fi, too?

And I am working on that tour, too...

You can buy the photopass in advance... Have you done it already? If not, PM me and let me look for a code...I may be able to find one where you save even more if you get it ahead of time. :)

I quoted myself - is that allowed???

Anyway - yep Maroo IRL is In Real Life.

Matt - Here is the website to pre-purchase the photo cd. If you purchase it in advance the cost is $99.95 - at the parks I think it just went up to $149.95 so you will save $50. I did not see any codes but maybe Maroo will find something. You used to be able to order it any time but now I have ready that codes expire after 60 days so I would not order it more than 30 days before your trip. Shipping is free.

Hi everyone,

Well we finally have a surgery date for Andrea's open heart surgery. She will be having it on August 19th. She is so funny she told me she doesn't want to know when it is going to be yet. I did tell her it would be in August and that it was on Wednesday. She said good she was glad it was not on Monday she doesn't like Mondays. Unfortantely, she will be in the hospital on her 9th birthday (August 23) hopefully she will be feeling better by then.

Please keep Andrea and us in your prayers. I will update when I have more info.

I am hoping to update Andrea's trip report on Friday - fingers crossed. :rotfl:

Thanks,
Diane

We pre-ordered our photopass and I actually got everything ready and sent for it this week. They did charge us 7.00 for shipping. I also understood that shipping would be free but it wasn't. We also pre-ordered the photo book but I haven't completed it yet so I don't know what shipping will be.

I only have a couple of things to report on. First of all I can't believe I didn't mention this anywhere in my trip report. MY DD lost her very last baby tooth while we were in our villa at GKTW. It is so exciting because it has been loose for literally months. The dentist didn't see a problem with her keeping it as long as possible so we just left it alone. Her other tooth had already started growing and her last baby tooth was just hanging there for months. (I don't know how she could handle this because it would have drove me batty.) So anyway she didn't want to loose her last tooth and when we were eating breakfast in our villa it just came out. She wasn't upset at all and said that she was glad her last tooth fell out on her Disney trip.:lmao:

We also went to her 3 month check-up. The news wasn't as great as we would have hoped for but we were prepared for it becuase we could see all of the signs. DD is finally coming out of her "honeymoon" period. This means that her pancrease has totally stopped producing. We had been fighting such crazy highs for weeks (all except for the miracle while we were at Disney and yes I believe that it was a miracle because not once did she have a belly ache or get an extreme high that wasn't controllable.)
We have adjusted both her basal and bolus rates. We have been having better numbers when waking but had a little craziness yesterday while we were at the library. Her BG was in the 450's and wouldn't come down. We had just put on a site the day before but went home and changed her catherter again. It came down so we figure there was a kink in the tubing or the catheter itself.
Pray that this is an easy transition for DD. I hope it all gets worked out and under control before school starts.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers.

YAY :yay: for the single digits:yay: Every night when we say our prayers we pray that 'all the sick kids in the world will get better' and my DD3 says the names of kids she wants to get better. Mya is always on her list. I show DD3 your TR, so thats how she 'knows' Mya!

Have a great time in Disney!!!!!!!!!

That is so sweet and touching. Your little one is so considerate to pray for Mya. Thank you.

To anyone from the beginning days of the Wish Trippers....Unite! thread, I wanted to let you know that Alize died today. Our memories of his Wish Trip will be something to bring us smiles in the coming days. Karen
