So I'm ordering Crocs for myself and my little ones (husband said no way).
My DD is only 2.5 and it doesn't look like they have a size made for her. She still wears little kids shoes. Her shoe size is 8. I measured her foot on the Crocs scale and it doesn't even register, so what size do I get her? They are having a half price sale and I want to get them while there on sale. Please let me know what everyone thinks.....I really want to get them.
THanks,
Amberleigh.

They do make crocs that small. Look for a child size 8/9 it will have a C in front of it. Tyler just grew out of his 4/5s and is now in a 6/7 which is smaller than your daughter's size. My 15 month old fits in the C4/5s now. Here is a link: http://www.crocs.com/sizing/sizingchart.pdf They do not list the sizes in the drop down size selector in order of size. I think this is where the confusion comes in. The outlet at Crocs has some cute cotton candy colored scutes that come with a back strap in that size. My husband also won't wear the regular Crocs, but he loves his Scutes. :wizard:

Yay! Thanks for all the help. I'm going to order them now!
I'm updating my TR with our itinerary so far. Let me know what you think....am I trying to do too much?

I am so laughing over here! It is so funny how you guys are talking about Crocs being so good, but then you all said that they make you trip. LOL, I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh.

Thanks for the smile on my face.....
:)

Just got off the phone with our MAW coordinator. I very timidly asked what would happen if we needed to change dates, she said, depends on why were changing? I gave her the summary, first the heat, and second our finances. She brought up the swine flu and I told her that was also a concern, as well as my mothers illness. She said with all that, if we needed to reschedule MAW would probably pay the $100 fee to change the tickets as that all sounds understandable. I said I would call her this afternoon with a decision so that GKTW can release our room to someone else, if needed.

After talking it out, and writing it all out here, I feel a lot better and not quite as stressed. I am still not sure what to do though. As far as the heat and humidity, we can deal with that with fans, cold compresses, staying indoors, etc. As far as finances, she could not help me with my sons tickets (and we can not imagine going without him). She gave me the amount of our spending allowance, which helps to know. (I don't plan on using that to pay for my older son if it's meant for the other kids, I have some savings I may be able to dip into if necessary.)

And now about that swine flu...I think and I am hoping it might be ok by the time we are ready to go. My husbands biggest concern is the swine flu, and his opinion is we can make the plans to go and if the flu gets worse, we cancel even though it might be last minute. If the flu gets that bad, I'm sure it would be understandable for us to cancel.

I am thinking if we get Azaria a mask to wear in the airport (don't know if that would help on the plane?), and if we wash, wash, wash our hands, carry sanitizer, and anti-bacterial wipes, which we do already, we might be able to avoid getting sick.

So decisions, decisions... I'm leaning towards going. My husband is leaving it up to me to decide. Need to think about it a little more.

Thanks again for your support, understanding and kindness! It really helps to have a place to sort out my thoughts in safe and supportive place.

Debi

I would be a bit freaked out in your situation too. Glad MAW was understanding. I'm sure these trips get cancelled all the time for all sorts of reasons. Yes, that Florida humidity is definately an issue, and I know we wouldn't have been able to go during a hot spell. If your daughter is stable enough to wait a few months, then I would be leaning towards waiting until fall, especially if she is very sensitive to heat. I know that heat would have been a big issue for our son, but our biggest concern was that we may not have a few months to wait.

As for the swine flu, that would have me freaked to travel with a medically fragile child. If you do decide to go...wash, wash, wash...wet wipes to wipe things down...wash some more...masks for the flight (if they are paper masks, make sure to change them every couple of hours since they lose their barrier as they get moist)...wash some more.

Hope you are able to come to a decision that you all feel good about.:)

Becky your so funny! I'm a klutz so maybe Crocs aren't a good idea for me....I'm looking at the ones with a strap on the back, that way maybe I won't trip and break a leg...
I found a pair for DD! I'm getting her a black pair in C8/9. Hopefully, they'll fit. I would go to a store and get them, but I'm not sure where they are sold locally. I'll have to check and see how long there on sale for.
I found the aerial pictures of GKTW on there facebook page. It looks so cool!

Last time we had went I bought a pair of Earth and Spirit slide on sandles at Wal-Mart...they were the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned..I wore them to the Parks Every DAY and had no feet issues at all. I just went and bought another pair exactly the same for this year---YIPEE I have my shoes!!!!

I just went to crocs.com and they are having a sale for Mother's Day. If you buy two or more pair of Mary Jane's, Prima, or Athens you get them all for 1/2 off. I think I am going to place an order for us. I love to find things on sale!

I bought crocs for myself and the kids lst year whenwe went to WDW DH wore his runnng shoes. Before the trip was over DH hd blisters and had bought himself a pair of crocs at WDW. So in the end he was the only one with mickey crocs. My DS loves his corocs and wears them all the time, he doesn't want to wear anything else.

I love crocs too but as of last year I would not buy then unless they have the strap in back. My son was wearing a pair last year as we were leaving the water park at Six Flags Great America and "tripped". He was unable to catch himself in time and ended up falling head first unto the cement. Lookily he was OK, but he did have quite a goose egg on his forhead for quite a while.:sad1: Don't get me wrong I still love crocs but I know insist on the strap in back and the kids are not allowed to push it up.:)

With that being said, I just recieved a phone call from Iris this morning. She just got a confirmation call that GKTW approved the dates of Sept 13-19. The only thing left is for MaW to book our plane trip which will probably be in the next couple of weeks.:banana::cheer2::cheer2:

So now I need some advice. I definatly want to make reservations for MNSSHP (yes Maroo you convinced me) but have two dates to consider. I could do it on 9/15 on tuesday or do I cap off the trip and do it on 9/18
which is that Friday. I am kind of thinking of Friday but than think that it is going to be busier so I don't know.

Thanks everyone for listening to me yesterday! I was really stressing out over this all day, among other things that were going on. Azaria was having lots and lots of seizures. It was a difficult day all around...

Last night, I talked with my husband, and we both decided we will just go ahead and take the trip now. The swine flu is still a concern, but we are willing to play that by ear. If an outbreak spreads or it gets worse, we will cancel (even though we hate to cancel last minute). October is always an option for us (Azaria's birthday is in October too).

Thanks again everyone for listening. I'm making some changes in our pre-trip report, we aren't going to have as much (personal) spending money as I had hoped. So n Cirque du Soliel show, instead we will probably just visit one of the parks.

Question: Does anyone have any ideas on the best place to buy a 3 day PH, Universal and Seaworld tickets for my son (at a discount)? I really wish that MAW would have included him in this, he already feels left out and thinks he is a burden since we have to pay for his tickets and flight. We would never do this trip without him though, so we are going to make it work. I just wonder if when we get to Disney World if it's best to purchase the tickets at the gate, or somewhere else?

Thanks again!

Debi

We will be there the same time as you just for a family trip, not our Wish Trip. I would go to MNSSHP on Tuesday night, which is when we plan on going. I went on a Friday and few years ago and it was crowded, but not unmanageable. It is a lot of fun. If it rains on Tuesday, this will also give you a back-up date of Friday. I have maps of the party from when we went if you would like to look at them. :woohoo:

I would try www.mouseforless.com I think that they have several links on there for how to purchase tickets cheaper for Disney. You might even want to email them and ask them. Would it be possible for the Universal tickets to ask at GKTW when you get there if they have an extra one? It seems that many families don't use all of theirs and I have heard of people turning unused tickets back in. I hope that this helps a little! :wizard:

Our MAW volunteers were here last night and both were super sweet. They brought the kids gifts and were extremely helpful. Today they called and let us know that we can go for the boys birthday!!! How exciting is that they will get to turn 4 at Disney. Our teens are just as excited and they have been extremely helpful in including our extra person. They are booking our flights tomorrow. They would have already done it today but needed credit card info to book our extra.

So are dates are July 4th- July 10th and GKTW was available these days! So other than the worry of the swine flu looks like everything is a go!!

We are so excited!!!!!

Yeah! Congrats on your trip! :wizard:

Crocs are my favorite shoe and I even wear them in the winter, as long as the snow isn't to deep. I DO also trip in them. LOL It seems to be worse on carpet. Also I was on a major walking trip last year (yes I had on my crocs) something kept poking me in my foot so I thought I had a sticker of some sort in my sock. I finally stopped long enough to look (it felt like a poke every time I stepped but no big deal). I took off my croc and found that my sock was bloody? So after investigating I found I had stepped on a piece of glass that went through the croc and was just poking me literally. It did cut my skin and made me bleed.

I know that you can get things in flip flops etc., but thought you should know about this as well.

The swine flu is scary, lots of hand washing (on your part) and prayers to keep you safe and healthy ( on our part).

My DD has been struggling with her blood sugars. We keep her on a strict diet and routine so you would think she would always be fine. Not the case. Last week she came home 3 out of 5 days and yesterday as well. Last week she was high and it wouldn't come down. At one point it was over 300. Yesterday the secretary called (her school doesn't have a nurse, it is a private parochial school) and said her BG was low and wouldn't come up even after giving her juice. What? Juice always skyrockets her that is why it is only given to treat lows. She is doing better today but it has been high again, just not as bad. I don't know what is going on. The doctor's say anything can effect her BG to include her moods, illness, weather, excercise, the list goes on and on.

Tntbelt________Congrats on your trip. It will be even more fun to celebrate the birthday there.

Debi, don't feel badly about not doing Cirque. Yes, it's wonderful, but you are going to be busy beyond belief. And as a Disneyland vet, you're accustomed to the size of things there - so you may not realize just how much territory there is to cover at WDW. I would also call GKTW now, explain the situation with your son - that he is your alternate caregiver when you travel, and ask what they recommend for getting the tickets.

Read on somebody's itinerary they were going to leave at 8 am for the shuttle launch. Before you really plan on that, you might want to watch the cruiseline forum here on the DIS. Shirley Brown, a cocoa beach resident (and guardian angel to DISers ) -posts updates on the cruiseline forum based on what the local situation is and what the authorities are telling people to do. I know in the past the lines have started forming at 5:30 AM! I also would not make an early priority seating for dinner on that day, if you go, because you may well not make it back in time.

I agree with the previous poster who said MNSSHP on Tuesday - definitely lighter crowds and also the second "chance" if needed.

I must admite that I am a little jealous, my wish cordinator told me that those dates were already booked and were not available.:confused3 Ah well I'm just as excieted about the dates I have now.:woohoo:

I am so glad that your wish cordinators are working so fast and everything is coming together for you. keep us informed.:)

I have definatly been keeping that in mind, but something keeps poping up in my mind about MNSSHP being icing on the cake for the final day. I have always pictured watching the fireworks over cinderella's castle on our last night and we wont be able to do that if we are not there for MNSSHP. I don't know, maybe we can do DAK/Epcot on friday and see the fireworks there.:confused3:headache:
