Major Woodys 2 Week TR 5/17 thru 5/31/04
Who : Bill (45), veteran of numerous WDW trips; Jeanne ( fortysomething), only her 4th WDW trip, but learning quick.
Where : PO-FQ for 10 nights, followed by 3 nights at the Beach Club
How : Driving from NYS
Prelude:
The plan is for a two week trip, staying at 2 different resorts. Well be driving down from upstate NY in my van. I also conducted a donation drive at work for Give Kids The World ( www.gktw.org ) , and as such, had a large amount of stuff to bring down to GKTW before we stopped at WDW. Among our plans for this trip, we want to eat at Fultons Crab House, we have PSs at Ohanas, Boma, Chefs De France, & Teppanyaki. We are also planning on a night at Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville at Universal Citywalk. We also plan on catching Flo & Eddie and also Arlo Guthrie at the Flower Power Concert series. We also have one of my co-workers from the NY State Police who will be joining us for a day at Epcot in the 2nd week, it is his and his wifes first trip to WDW in almost 15 years, so were planning on giving them the royal tour, capped off with dinner at Teppanyaki. We planned on leaving Sunday morning, May 16, and driving to Savannah, GA. We like the Holiday Inn Express at Exit 94 on I-95, for two reasons. One is the fact that we get a Jacuzzi room, and the second, and most important, is we get it for free, since Jeanne has tons of points with Holiday Inn from her company business travels. We also like the fact that WDW is just about a 4 hour drive from that point the next morning. We left Kingston, NY at 6:30am, and other than stopping at the JR Outlet in mid North Carolina, and the requisite gas stops, we didnt stop for any meals, so we made very good time. We had packed grub for the drive down, so food wasnt a problem. We wanted to make it to Savannah before 9pm, as we both are big Sopranos fans, and wanted to watch the episode from our room. We made it to Savannah at about 8:00pm, checked in without a hitch, and settled into the room. After a relaxing bath, we watched the Sopranos, ( I hated the episode BTW, a very long dream sequence), and soon settled off to sleep. We didnt set the alarm, we figured wed wake up early enough to head out to WDW.
Stay tuned for the next part.....
