My dd9 and I are having major Disneyland withdraws. We just got back last week. Poor baby keeps thinking of all the things she didn't get to do that she wanted (we were there for 6 days) and I keep having to remind her of all the things we did do. We want to go back so bad!!!! Like right now!!!! I'm not sure what is worst, the anticipating of the days leading up to your trip, or the aftereffects of it actually being over before you were ready for it to be.

We left our hearts in Disneyland and need to go get them now!!!

How do you handle your withdrawals?

We start making our lists for next time! We also love to watch youtube videos of our favorite parades, fireworks, rides. Dd follows 'foods of disneyland' on IG and loves making notes about which foods we need to try next time. Sometimes we also get look up recipes and try our hand at making our favorite Disney treats right here!

Youtube videos, the HOJO webcam and pictures of Disney online. I like to learn Disney history, since I know Disneyland so well I like to learn the history of it back from either before I was born or from when I was too little to remember. Also I wear my Disney lanyard to work with my pins, it holds my work cards that I need to have on me on a daily basis.

6 days.....what did you not do?

My withdrawals are handled in Eugene,Oregon, I travel by train, walk over to the 5th street market and take in the theming, it works all the time. Eugene also has a great outdoor mall at Christmas, I explore it very early in the morning without crowds. Also pumpkin patches are good for withdrawals. Also look for extensive Christmas theme shows in your area, those are becoming more festive.

I hear ya!

We just got back after being there last week and I immediately wanted to go back. I knew I couldn't take the kids on another trip too soon, so I started planning a solo trip (one that has turned into a me and my dad trip). We are going again next month and I'm super pumped! While I don't feel like there were things we didn't get to do, I just want to go and do it all again....plus see all the amazing holiday stuff =)

Haha, Disney withdrawal is real! I usually avoid Disboards for a few weeks, you know, until I'm not insanely jealous of everyone's planning! Then I reassure myself that it's not going anywhere and we will return. But it's rough.

I can relate with the "withdrawal's".......... On our flight home I like to get feedback from our group as to favorites such as "Let's Do It Again" or "Once was enough", including writing down greatest Moments / Memories. Or suggestions on what would be helpful if we did this or that. My last family group trip Aug 2016, 10 people, had a great mix of "Thrill ride enthusiasts" to "take it easy riders". Luckily we talked about this before hand. I was the appointed planner.....willing to take input from everyone. "Communication" is my main mantra when traveling with others.

When saying good bye to Disney....... we always start talking about "next time".
Otherwise, yes.... Disney withdrawals is a real syndrome.
Look forward to the future and start planning for "next time" !
Even if its a few years away.......

There's a lot of people who would say the same thing about where you live. I remember getting back from Hawaii and having my wife tell me I need to find a job there so we'll never have to leave.

Anyway, for us, we overcome the "sad" feelings with Annual Passes. Probably not feasible for you guys being as far away as you are. That's how I used to feel when we'd do trips to Diseny World. It was so far away, we could do it every 18-24 months. That makes you miss the place. But since we started doing DL, and it's only 333 miles from my house, we get APs every other year. That way, we go for a week, then head back in a few months, hit it on a few 2 day trips, and then back for another week long trip. It keeps us from missing Disney for that long year between big trips, and after a year of going back and forth, it makes the year between APs OK because we're so loaded on Magic. As much as I miss WDW, I don't miss the long gaps between trips.

Yes! I'm so glad someone else admits this. :teleport: Especially right before a trip, I'll be reading a lot more, enjoying other people's trip reports. And then as soon as I'm back I just can't be here for a while. Someone else's trip is starting but mine is over, so it takes some time -- usually right when I decide for another trip -- before I'll come back.

I feel your pain, after going in August and September my DD12 looked at me and said, "We didn't get to go this month...." We came very close to going this month, but I just couldn't justify her missing school. The airfares have been mighty tempting though. We are going Super Bowl weekend, and Spring break at WDW/Universal and then no more trips until school's out. I keep trying to plan summer trip(s) but the airfares won't cooperate yet.

Our taste of Disney is the Starbucks roasted ham and swiss breakfast sandwich, because that is what we had for breakfast every morning when we started visiting DL again in June of 2014 after an 8 year break.

I can only be on Disboards when I'm planning a trip. Otherwise, it makes me too sad that it will be so long before I can get back.

After our last trip in July I stopped visiting the boards as often (would still visit once a day) because we had no plans to return this year. Last year we had annual passes, so we went often. However, we folded when we found cheap flights, and are now annual pass holders again with 3 trips planned. :) The withdrawals were horrible!

We start making plans for our next trip, visit other, less expensive local theme parks, and go on the different forums to read as much as I can about current happenings and rumors at the parks.

The withdrawals are definitely no fun. I still visit the board, though not as often, have started planning for our next trip (2018) and found a bunch of audio loops of areas of the park like the Esplanade and Grizzly Peak airfield to listen to.
