Yes they are interchangeable. BRU can be used at TRU and vice versa.

I had the same experience when I sent my DH to pick up DD Christmas gift and he called to ask me how he should pay the additional $7.89. Unfortunetly I didn't check them when I recieved them (I always do now). But luckily he called me because I told him to get the cards back from the TRU employee and that I would call Hotwire on Monday. She reluctantly gave the cards back and after an email, 2 phone calls and 1 month they credited me the additional $5.00 on each card. It worked out and then I was able to get my nephew a late Christmas gift on clearance.
