MAJOR news re DD's hospitalization!!!

Just got off the phone with the doctor..

First of all, son-in-law and I have to attend a 3-hour Depression meeting tonight.. The purpose is to inform us of how we can best help my DD with this illness and to be certain we understand what it's all about.. DD will NOT be in attendance as they feel we might not be honest about our concerns - or in asking questions - for fear of upsetting her.. The meeting will be from 6 to 9 p.m..

The doctor is VERY pleased with her progress (as well as her DH's progress) - feels the increase in medication has been helpful - and is considering giving her a 4-hour day pass OUT of the hospital tomorrow or Friday.. He wants her to go home for a bit to see if she feels "overwhelmed" there.. If not, he's going to RELEASE her this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep those prayers coming! I'm very nervous about how she's going to feel once she leaves there (if she is in fact going to feel overwhelmed again) and if she feels TOO good, I have concerns that she won't follow up on all she needs to do...

I'm more nervous now than ever!!!!!!!!!!!

Praying for a good outcome for you DD. Depression is a nasty disease. Our DD has good times and bad times, and we never know what is going to bring on another episode.

Were any of you aware that Joan Lunden suffers from severe clinical depression? I guess she wrote a book about it and my DD wants me to see if I can find it for her.. Also Marie Osmond and I can't remember who all else.. They had a movie in their Depression Discussion group and they interviewed lots of celebrities and such that also suffer from this disease..

Shoot - could have fooled me! I was thoroughly convinced that Joan Lunden had it ALL TOGETHER at ALL TIMES!! As for Marie Osmond, I think I would have been depressed just having that many brothers.. LOL.................

That's great news! I really believe she's going to be well soon. She has a great support system and a good doctor who is taking care to be sure she isn't rushed into recovery. These things take time. I'll keep her in my prayers.
