We are getting to Disney on Monday, Nov 3rd around 4pm.

What I would like to do is go to MGM first thing in the morning because it has early entry on Tuesday.

Tower of Terror
Rock and Roll Roller Coaster are musts, would like to do some others

Then head over to MK

Buzz lightyear
Haunted Mansion
Jungle Cruise
Philharmagic
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Pirates
Snow white
Peter Pan are musts

MK has parade, spectro, and wishes this day.

We can skip the regular parade, do you guys think all this is possible? The park closes early, I think at 7pm

We are staying at Disney and have a rental car.

Should we drive to MGM and then drive to Ticket transportation and take monorail???????

Should I give this idea up and just do the one park??????

We only have 1 day, I might be trying to do too much.

Any advice from the Disney Vets would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Other than RNRC and TOT, there aren't any other "rides" in MGM. The shows schedules are so spread apart so that it takes all day to see all of them. B and B doesn't even start until after lunchtime.

If all you do is RNRC and TOT at EE (pull FP on one and ride the other, then use the FP), then you could probably, and I said probably, hop over to MK about opening time and do a lot of your list. Using the FP system to the very best of your ability will help you out. A poster just back said that he talked to the CMs and found out that FPs don't expire at the end of the printed time and that they don't care if you return late; you just can't return early. That helped him a lot because he hoarded them and by 3:00 when the standby lines were packed, they just rode and rode with all his FPs. Look for the poster "Tank". I think it was him. Read his directions for yourself. Good luck. Melanie

Honestly? Do the one park. Leave the rental car parked and get on Disney transport (the bus preferably) to MK. It will take you to the gate. Spend your time doing the many things in MK. Leave MGM Studios for another day.

You can do both, but I think your experience would suffer.

If MGM has early entry and you are there when the park opens, you can go to the T of T fastpass machine, get FPs. ride RnR, go to Tof T, ride that, and probably be at the bus stop to MK by 8:45.

It is not like you are trying to do this at Easter or anything. If you only have one day, I would definitely try to squeeze in T ofT and RnR.

When you get to MK, head to either Fantasyland ( FP Philharmagic, ride Peter Pan) or Tomorrowland (FP Buzz, ride Space).

All of this assumes that you are not going to attempt this with a very young child or a very old parent...but if your kids are older than 7 it should be do-able.

I would not try do this several days in a row, but if you only have one day, I say go for it!!!

As to whether you should "bus" it or "car" it, you might want to post a question on the Transportation board, one of the Disney bus drivers , Chip'n'Dale, gives expert advice. He has never "steered" me wrong.

If you have only one day in WDW what type of tickets do you have. If you only have a 1 day ticket you won't be able to park hop anyway.

We have 1 day left on a 5 day hopper from 1998. I know it seems crazy to try to do all this but we only have the one day and have to leave Wednesday morning to go south.

I have been to all the parks but not since 1998. At first I was just going to do MK but after reading everything on these boards and then seeing that MGM had a EE on that day made me wonder if I could get TofT and RRR in before hitting MK.

If getting to MK a little late will ruin the whole day(as for getting Fast Passes, when to get to different attractions), I will not do MGM this trip.

I just have this one day and thought this might be doable.

I don't know when we will have the chance to go to Disney again.

Thanks for your input:D

One tactic that has served us well on our last three trips to MK was to send one adult in the party to get Buzz FP's while everyone else goes on to Fantasyland (with the kids). The FP retriever can easily zip through the crowds and meet the rest of the group in line at Peter Pan without causing a commotion. Depending on lines and time send someone to get Splash or Haunted Mansion FP's the same way when your FP window opens up again.

we went to MGM on an EE day, a saturday no less and that first hour was like a ghost town. In one hour we were able to ride RnR and ToT 3 times each. If you just want to do them once you should have no problem doing them and getting to MK by opening. If you are concerned about transportaion here is my advice. Park at the swan or dolphin (it is an open lot, no parking passes neccessary), and either walk (it takes about 15 mins) or take the boat (about 10 mins) to MGM and then either take the bus from MGM to TTC or get back to the swan and take the bus from there directly to MK (no stop at TTC). After the day is over, take the bus back to the S/D

I am assuming it would be somewhat dead at MK( sorry didn't notice what day) and we do every thing we want to there in one day (Dec and Jan) which is more than what's on your list so if you are there anywhere close to opening I would say you shold be fine

we like star tours at MGM and would add that to the "ride list" for there. I think that is open ee also

edited cause just noticed the spectro and stuff in your post...so it probably would not be empty at MK but you still aren't doing that much and if it's busy fast pass will be open, I'd still try it. basically your hr at Mgm would be spent waiting for MK to open anyway otherwise!

Even if you have checked out of your Disney hotel, you can still leave your car in the hotel parking lot and use Disney transportation.

Unless I have missed it here, what kind of ticket do you have? A one day pass does not allow park hopping.

If you get MK at opening, hop on the train to SM, this gets you ahead of the crowd. Then work the park clockwise and should do most of what is on your list. Tuesday is a good day for both parks, so you got that going for you.

Then make note what you did not get tot do. Now you have an excuse to come back

Thank you all.

We will try to do both parks.

I will let you know how it goes when we get back.

Still not sure about the best way to do this(transportation wise).

I have a 11 days to figure it out!!!!!!

I would love to be able to spend a week and do everything at my leisure but since we only have the one day we will wing it.

Want a really crazy idea... dont cut out rides, add to them :)

Here is what I would do if I had a parkhopper for one day (and not having been to a park since 98)

Early Entry to MGM
ride ToT
ride RnRC
leave by 8:45am <-no problem if you are there when the gates open

Next head to Epcot (yes, Epcot) <- there by 9:30 at the latest
ride M:S <-use the single rider line if the main line is longer than a 20 minute wait

Catch Monorail to MK <-arrive by 10:30, hopefully

ride the 9 rides you are hoping for, using Fast Passes everywhere possible.
According to the Disney website, Spectro is not running on Nov 3rd.
Catch Wishes while standing near the entry of main street.... and get ready to run....

Jump on the monorail again -- to Epcot.

Catch Illuminations <- this will be tight, as you will have to be the first group on the monorail to epcot to get there in time...

After that - you will be dead tired... but you will have seen the highlights of three parks in one day. -- I have done it, it is fun. :)

no matter what you do, have fun and good luck :earsboy:

Hey Adam, great idea. I am going to attempt it. We will be doing this on Tuesday, November 4th. There is spectro and wishes in Mk, so I will try it all except for the 2nd trip back to Epcot!!!!!

Can't wait!!!!!!

yeah - i understand - that second trip back to epcot is very tough. I am one of those strange people that (while being an annual pass holder and living only an hour away) enjoys cramming everything into one visit. I get this strange satisfaction if I am able to say stuff like: I rode all of the E-tickets in all four parks in one day, plus saw fantasmic and illuminations the same day. I know, I am silly. :) - i find it a challenge.

Good luck with your trip -- and don't miss M:S - it is worth it.

have fun
